Hate having to beg.
FOr over a year I have been using my husband's Reward # to book my business travel at Marriott. We also own two Marriott Vacation Club units and have a FIRST USA Rewards VISA card all joint accounts. Recently I had to set up a Rewards # in my own name in order to transfer points from husband's acct # into my UNITED Airline FF account #. So now I am using my owner # but I lost the credits for the 20 nights I spent at Marriott's from 1/1-6/30 using his Rewards #. Anyone I called Rewards today and asked for Silver status on my Rewards #. I explained to the Rep that in the past we had always had Silver status on husband's rewards # due to either the time share ownership or the VISA card so I wanted it on my # since I am the one that travels. What a hassle I got. I was told Silver status based on FIRST USA Visa or Vacation CLub ownership could only be assigned to one Marriott Rewards # and it had to be my husband's # because he is the primary account holder and no they could not take it off his # and put it on mine etc, etc, etc.. I really got ticked off having to beg like that when I spend a lot of nights at Marriott. I also think that this is really sexist of Marriott to assume that he is the primary owner and to refuse to recognize my existence. I asked for a supervisor and after explaining it all to her she agreed "as a favor" to give me silver status. You know I am doing them the favor by staying with them. I can choose lots of other hotels. The whole conversation left a sour taste in my mouth. I really resented having to beg for something they should have given me without question.

It could be that your husband is considered the primary account holder, because he had his number first & his was used to originate the Vacation Club membership...not because of his gender.
I went through this same thing recently with my bank. When we moved, my wife setup all the bank accounts. I pay all the bills, but when I called the electronic banking department with an error, they give me hell because I am not the primary account holder. I had to get her on the phone to "authorize" me!

Have you tried calling the MVCI Owner Services number? They seem to be able to do most anything and are a LOT friendlier.
