I can't get over how little some of you appear to value your time... If the only reward for finding a lower fare elsewhere was a price-match, would you still go thru the hassle of filing a claim? For 20 cents?

Anybody who answers "yes" to that is off my dance card... No girl in her right mind would touch you with a 10-foot pole.

Is this a serious question? Obviously no one is going to submit such a claim for a price match to save $0.20. However, in this case, this LNF saved me $20 a night, for 7 nights, for a total savings of $140. It took me 10 minutes to find this rate.

I certainly don't value my time at more than $840/hour, so yes, this was a good decision.

If you passed up 10 minutes of work that would save you $140, most women would consider you lazy and a poor manager of money, and therefore would not touch you with a 10-foot pole.

It's NOT $0.02 you save, it's whatever the lower rate is -25%

Unless you constantly find Marriott rooms for around $10 a night, and if you do, please do share with us.

DeltaPurser was saying that IF the only savings was a price-match, instead of the extra 25% discount, would anyone still submit a claim for a $0.20 savings. Which is obviously a dumb question b/c no one would waste their time with such a thing.

The whole point of the LNF scheme is to do price differentiation. For those who don't bother looking, they can just pay whatever Marriott.com asks for. For savvy people like me, it's a great scheme.

Most people won't even bother the 25% off reduction. I talked to people about this, and most of them were fascinated but then 'yeah right, I don't bother looking'.

It's all depend on time cost for each individual - Mr. Nacho would never look as he earns more if he uses the time to work than to look for lower rate. For some other it might be in their instinct to save $.

This thread is not started up to judge people whether they care about $0.02 - we value our time differently and each individual has their own principle.

Well, I guess the wording sounds pretty clear, but I first thought they'd give you 25% of the 20 cents. ;)

I filed one for .01 difference. Saves me 25% and just following their rules

but, if you find the rate on a 3rd party site, it's more than just the .01 difference.

you get credit for stay by booking through Marriott and you would not if you
booked 3rd party.
