'Marriott Rewards Elite'
Hello,
I just got my 'new' membership kit in the mail. No longer am I just Club Marquis Platinum, I'm now Marriott Rewards Platinum http://216.167.74.240/forum/smile.gif The good news (for me) is that my current status runs all the way till Jan 1, 2002. The bad news is they dropped rolling year qualification for standard calendar year qualification. The new Platinum cards look a lot nicer than the garish yellow ones before. In fact, it's similar to my USAirways Chairman's Preferred card in color, so they are all one happy family in my wallet <grin> |
Yes, i received my platinum card over the weekend as well, also good until January of 2002. I was very surprised to receive it though, because although i have over 100 stays already this year they were mostly at Springhill Suites and Courtyard properties. I did not realize they were going to retroactively give credit for all Marriott stays thus far. That 30% bonus will sure be nice now though.

Well, I'm waiting to see what I'll get. I had a Courtyard Club membership, but it was supposed to expire several months ago, and I did not renew when asked to, but according to my most recent statement, I'm still a member, and they are supposed to comp us to the "equivalent level" in the new program ... I'm not sure if that will be silver or gold though ...

I am glad for the calendar year tracking. The rolling year was a pain to track.

Is it true that this new program is starting on June 1st?
I just qualified for Marriott Platinum (75 nights) last week, but it was over a rolling 12 months. Will I still get the Platinum status in the new program? |
[*]The program starts jun-1-2000 [*]the status seems to be good till dec-31-2001 (= 19 months for the first period, afterwards calendar years)
? will all stays in the next 19 months count for the status 2002 ?, or will the stays from june-dec-2000 (status-wise) be wasted? |
Rudi, my impression is that stays from June 1 till the end of this year really don't matter... maybe they will re-count stays from the beginning of this year to give some people upgrades in status, but that's not specifically stated anywhere.
I would think they would bring people up in status based on this year when it's complete.. |
I guess I'll have to wait until I return home June 2 to see what I get.
|
Hopefully mine will be waiting when I get back to PDX on the 26th...
By my calculations I should be at least Gold for this revision. Beckles, when I read the new program info I think it said they were going to tally ALL Marriott property stays for the re-qual. & apply them toward the new status. [This message has been edited by shadow (edited 05-17-2000).] |
Does anyone know how they will calulate the new levels? How far back are they going to go to determine the new level? I just found out today in a call to the service center that I was going to be placed at the Gold level with 53 stays counting for setting the level. Problem is, my last year total stays at Marriott properties were over 50. And this year up to May 1st I'm at 43. The gal couldn't answer me as to how they determined
my level beyond the stays, but couldn't say the term for this count. Just interested...... |
Had 30 Courtyard stays last year and a Sliver Card showed up today. ????
I like it. I'm not complaining. But I decided early this year I wanted Starwood Platinum, Hilton Platinum, and Hyatt Platinum (I will not re-qualify for Hyatt Diamond this year). Yo Marriott, why do this in May when I have planned my year already? Again, thanks, but too late. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |
I received a postcard saying MR is offering me Silver membership. This is my first status in any hotel program. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif But I was going planning for Hilton or Starwood status this with Hilton being easiest to get. Since I haven't started my business trips yet I may change...

I was CY Gold with between 30 and 40 stays last year. Just before I left for vacaion, I recieved my Marriot Silver card. I took a look at the "Benefits" to Silver and have determined that if I continue to visit CY's, I have lost benefits. I no longer get free local calls and I now compete with thousands of other members for upgraded rooms.
I had always contended that CY Gold was pretty meaningless, Marriot confirmed this by saying that CY Gold = Marriot Silver. Since Hilton now includes Hampton Inn in addition to Regular Hiltons and Hiton Garden Inns, I am taking my business to Hilton. So long Marriot. |
I got a postcard for free silver with only 8 nights this year to maintain for another year.
|
One bit of good news--CY Club members (Gold or basic), who became Silver, will still get local phone calls free until 1/31/2001 (it appears that status will last through the following January). And the indication is that the free-local-calls benefit applies only at Courtyard, implying that Fairfield and Springhill will still have free local calls for everyone.
