Club Courtyard

I recently stayed at a Courtyard and noticed that they have some club in addition to Marriott Rewards you can join. I read the list of benefits, and it looked like you got nothing for your money. Is anyone familiar with this club and is it worth the money? ($10.00 I think)

It's left over when Marriott had several programs. If you stay at CY often then it's worth it. Its benefits are free local calls, newspaper, and etc. BTW you receive $10 CY certificate when you join for $10 annual fee.

Your $10 cost is covered by the certificate you receive. You receive Marriott Reward points,(10 points per dollar on room rate only) and free local phone and some fax benifits. I like the courtyard club. You can usually find them when a full service Marriott in not available. The morning paper and the FREE local phone calls is a plus for me. The rooms and properties are always in nice shape. I would go for it. Hope it works for you.

Also, the free local calls (with no Starwood per minute nonsense) are a BIG benefit for Internet lunatics like us, from the annoyance standpoint, as well as the minor economic one.

Anyone have experience tying this in with a Marriott Reward/Club Marquis account? I keep being told that I've got to set up another Marriott Rewards account to sign up for Club Courtyard.

Interesting... I have CY Club version of Marriott Rewards card. I joined it before the merger, but the Club merged to Marriott Rewards. The CSR you talked is wrong. You don't get different number but same number with CY logo on it...

dilbert is correct...I've had Marriott Rewards for 10+ years. All they did was issue a new CY Club Marriott card with the same number I've always had.

CY stays do not count toward Marquis status.

I think that my question might have been unclear. The situation is this: I've got an existing Marriott Rewards account. (Gold Level Club Marquis.)

This account has a substantial # of points in it.

I would like to take this same account and enroll it in Courtyard Club. I'm told that that is not possible. If I want to enroll in Courtyard Club, I've got to open a new account. (Which will be another Marriott Rewards account.)

Has anyone been able to take an existing MR account and add the Courtyard Club membership to it?

Rocky,
I think someone gave you bad information. My CY club and my Marriott Rewards Gold Marquis card have the same number. I have received points from each of the properties all placed in one account. Statements list all the activity from both Courtyards and Marriotts. If I remember correctly, the application asks if you already have a MR number. Remember at CY's you only get 10 points per dollar on the room rate ONLY. None of the other incidental charges count. I would either get a paper application or call Courtyard Customer Service and talk to a different rep. Best of luck.

Let me try to explain again...

I signed up for CY Club at the desk of a CY.
They gave me a temp. CY club card with a different # on it. They told me they would link the 2 numbers together. Two weeks later I received a new Marriott Rewards card with the CY banner on it, with the same number I've had for 10 years.

All the points go into my original account. So, someone gave you bad info...it can be done.

Rocky,
It does seem that these other responses are correct, based on my experience... I also signed up for Courtyard Club at the front desk of a Courtyard by Marriott. The $10 fee was listed on my folio as well as a rebate for all local call charges for that stay. I was assured that the addition of Courtyard Club to my existing Marriott Rewards account would be seamless, and it was.
I did receive a new card, same number just different logo (CY Club Marriott Rewards).
The fact that they send you a $10 certificate toward your next Courtyard stay makes the program free.

I remember when I first signed up for this about 5 years ago, it was based on number of nites you stayed, not on the amount spent. I think you got 1 free night for every 10 you stayed.

I have a MR card now that has the Courtyard Club logo on it.

If you want to, call 800-321-CLUB for info.

Is it possible to be a Marriott Black member as well as have elite status in Courtyard Club using the same Marriott rewards number?
