So which side of the argument was the Mrs. on? (Note that I did not ask who won; in this situation there is no winning for the OP.)

Your only faux pas was to order a lobster roll after Labor Day. That's summer food. In all the years I lived there I rarely saw anyplace where you could even buy one during winter. Lobster meat is just too expensive this time of the year.

We didn't order lobster rolls, we bought whole lobsters in Rockport @ Roy Moore's on Bearskin Neck as we do every October. From the leftover dinner meal we make lobster rolls for the next day. Very little mayo, no lettuce or other fillers.

Not tacky, I might have been tacky once when about 12 of us took over the breakfast area of a Springhill for a evening. During one of many 10+ night stays a particular football game everyone wanted to watch was on.
We asked the staff first and they said go ahead. Then we asked them about pizza, booze, and beer and they said have fun. Had our party in the breakfast area and invited the staff to join us if they were hungry. Got plates and cups from the staff after the pizza guy did not provide enough. Had a good time and cleaned up our mess when we were done. When we asked the staff about doing it again a few weeks later they said sure. Many of our group spent over 100 nights in that hotel. I knew the staff by name and they knew me by name as well. That probably helped us to get whatever we wanted. |
