Any recent reviews of the Renaissance Houston Greenway Plaza Hotel? Some good reviews on Trip Advisor, but I always like to ask on FT.

I am not sure if they solved the issue since my last stay, but if staying on a Sunday good luck trying to exit the parking lot when that Massive Church lets out.

Any recent experiences at this hotel? Some posts on Tripadvisor say there's no wifi? How about in-room safes? Any bennies for Plats? Likereduced parking or weekend breakfast certificates? How good is there lounge?

No reduced parking fees for this plat. I wasn't there on a weekend so I can't comment on the breakfast cert. Lounge was very nice and I liked the room. 90% sure there is in room safe, and same confidence about in room wifi. I was there over a year ago so some things may have changed.

i stayed there for two nights in Sept for my first time. i had been staying at the JW and more recently the Icon for my past trips to Houston. i got my parking comp'd when they didn't have my type of bed reserved available (first time this has happened to me). i didn't push for the guarantee b/c i forgot to bring my company Amex with me and need all project expenses on that card, and the FD staff let me keep it on that card which was on file.

location was kind of tricky to get into, and then get out of, especially out of the parking garage.

i did leave my beloved Zune + Beats earbuds in my room and called back same day to see if they found it. they already had it inventoried after checking out about 9 am, and staff Fedexed them back to me that afternoon. big points from me for that.

That's disappointing, the Ren was my backup if I couldn't get into the JW. What's the timetable on the Marquis?

It is not scheduled to be completed until Spring of 2016. It will be in downtown. Can I ask why the Ren was your backup compared to other, more conveniently located hotels? If the JW was your hotel of choice, I can assume it is because you wanted to be in the Galleria area? The Marriott on West Loop and the Courtyard in that area are far better choices than the Ren. Greenway has a reputation of being a, well, not so good area.

I for one liked the area. It was convenient to most spots in the Houston area. Although it was in need of renovations, I used to find cheap LNF rates which was not the case for the other Galleria properties.

My corporate rate is usually the same no matter which brand I stay at. I just generally prefer Renaissance hotels if I can't get into a JW.
