Not receiving points for room charges
I alway thought that MR members received points for anything charged to their room during a stay except tax, in addition to the cost of lodging. In fact, while searching for this, all I found was people asking how to get points for buying items at a Marriott, while not staying.
I have to admit, I always assumed Marriott did this, and that it was automatic. I never checked until recently and realized I am only getting points for the room cost. This upsets me as I always bill things to the room, or eat at the restaurants, or pay for the exorbitant dry cleaning, with the solace that at least I am getting points. Last weekend Mrs. Emanon and I went on a small get-a-way to a Marriott hotel, my bill was: Room: $249.00 Lounge: $22.15 Parking: $40.00 Retail: $21.93 And a bunch of taxes. When I checked my MR Account, I only received 2,490 base points and the 50% Plat bonus. I expected 3,330. I went back through all of my receipts for April and May, and its the same, lots of other items billed to my room, and I only ever received points for the room alone. Is this something new? Or I have I been under the wrong impression or years? |
Was it a full service brand?

Also, not at Ritz. Full service marriott's (Marriott, JW, ren) only give points on incidentals. And, btw, you have to check every time you stay. They often short you on points. Easy to correct, call MR. And not everything charged to the room counts, but the things you listed should.

The example was a full service Marriott, my other stays have been at a Ren, and a Fairfield Inn. No points for incidentals at either at least since April, but I have all of my receipts.
So is it just at Ren, Marriott, and JW, Marriott where I get points on incidentals? |

Yes, basically the non-Ritz full service should give you points for incidentals, but not at Courtyard, Fairfiled, Residence, etc.

Also, it varies on the parking depending if it's parking that Marriott runs or whether it's through a city-owned parking garage for example.
Cheers. |
