PS - Welcome to FT!

Cheers.

I am at the Cancun Marriott right now and was told internet is free for Plats. Just need to clear it up at check out.

Same problem here! Past two months at the Marriott Madison and both time I get the announcement at checkin about free internet. And both times I've had to take extra time out of my morning to stand in line to get them to REMOVE the charges that they left on my bill for internet. Annoying.

If it's a perk, don't make me have to chase the perk down each time. Make it seamless. Make it work.

BIG +1

The problem is that many hotels have different accounting systems and different interfaces with the ISP they use, makes it totally inconsistent in the application.

Miami airport Marriott removed the charge after I called the front desk...I checked out and got a clean copy of the bill...then 3 days later a separate charge for internet appeared on my bill -and I had to have my assistant call to reverse the charge AGAIN!

If it was me, the second call would NOT be to the hotel, the second call would be to Marriott Customer Service!

Same here last week at both the Waikiki and Wailea Marriotts. I also made sure to select the slower of the two Internet versions based on previous postings here.

Why only in the US and not the rest of the world?

The other chains free internet offer is valid for all their props. Only marriott limits it to the North and south America & Caribbean? I guess the US customers are more important to them then the other guest.:confused::confused::confused::con fused:

Actually, it is US, Canada, Mexico, Central & South America, and The Caribbean. My guess is that Europe and Asia will follow within a year or so.

I've had good experience with this thus far except at the Durham Marriott Research Triangle Park, where it was not on the bill at checkout, but they slipped it on post checkout as it was on my emailed folio. Of course, they also manually unlocked my door twice (or perhaps the lock was broken), knocked no fewer than five times even before scheduled checkout time, and have bloc-o-foam beds instead of real mattresses. Won't be staying there again.

Good to know. I'm scheduled to stay there in a couple of weeks.

Just as an FYI....The Singapore Marriott now has free internet access (for PLAT) in the rooms as of July 1st. Lets hope others follow suit....

Pass this on to the Master Thread on lounge access, where there is also a section for free HSIA. I am sure SkiAdcock would love to add this little chestnut, and if I recall from my stays, they have the lounge open 7 days per week too, right?
