Are there any Current Gift Card Promos

Just wondering if anyone has gotten wind of anything - for example like the Hertz true voucher offer that I think came early in the year last year.

The last discussion I could find was of the 10% discount offers that expired 12/31/09:

Both the 10% Delta discount and the 10 bonus Marriott Points ended with the end of the calendar year. Hopefully a new one will come up, but I socked away $5K in December so as not to have regrets.

During the winter promotions, I trolled the past years posts about gift cards and came to the conclusion that Marriott doesn't run many promos the rest of the year. I made a guess as to my budget until next winter & loaded up on enough cards to hopefully carry me through.

Does anyone know the promo code for the current Marriott GiftCard Give them the World…plus 10% Offer? MMF and NAP codes seem to be invalid.

If there's a wedding or honeymoon in your future.....http://marriottregistry.com
All contributions are added to a Honeymoon gift card.
This is really a great deal if you can use it.

Offer valid through August 1, 2010. For every $1,000 contributed beginning February 15, 2010 to your Marriott Honeymoon Gift Registry, $100 will be added to your registry no later than one week prior to your posted wedding date. A maximum bonus of $500 may be added to any registry. The calculated bonus will not include any Marriott promotional contribution. Also, gift givers will receive 20 points for every dollar contributed to your registry. Maximum of 40,000 points can be earned per Marriott RewardsŪ member account. Gift givers contributing to your registry must be Marriott Rewards members in order to receive points. Marriott Rewards points will be posted to the gift giver's account within 30 days of the transaction date.

Got my wife a "second honeymoon" kit. Card came overnighted for free with a red gift card suitcase.

This looks like an awesome deal and a second honeymoon is in the cards. Can someone explain to me what the sentence in bold above means? maybe an example to a promotional contribution?
Thanks.

Is it safe to assume that if we use the Marriott Premier CC we'd get another 10K for a 2K gift into this account?

dalm Mar 14, 2010 9:53 pm

Yep - to the question of using the Marriott PP credit card....5 points per $ for Marriott purchases.

I read the bold statement to mean they do not figure the $100/$1000 bonus into any other bonus. (ie - if you have a $1000 donation you will get $100 additional credit. If you receive an additional $900 donation you will not get an additional bonus because they are not figuring in the 1st $100 bonus. If you get another $100 donation on top of the $900, then you will get a second $100 bonus. In other words, you will need $5000 in donations to reach the maximum $500 bonus.)

OK, so I'm trying to wrap my head around this whole 'Honeymoon Registry' thing, which seems like a points bonanza. Here's my plan, and tell me what, if any, flaws/mistakes you see:

-Register to give parents Second honeymoon for November anniversary;

-They receive gift card after I've registered them and put money into account - how fast should this come? Would it be received by the end of the month? (Canadian address)

-Use the amount on card for a stay at the beginning of April (if received in time);

Now, here's where it really gets 'cute': I will be travelling with my parents on this trip. Can I in turn use this gift card to pay for the reservation in my name, or does the reservation have to be in parents name/MR account?

Earning Points or Miles?

What if the receipient of the honeymoon gift card is also a Marriott Rewards member? Does the receipient earn points or miles when using the gift card to pay for the room?

dalm Mar 30, 2010 4:24 pm

It's my understanding this is like any gift card. The person staying/paying will receive the 10 points/$ that they would ordinarily receive for a Marriott stay. (I know some brands are less...but whatever they would be entitled to at that particular hotel.) Win/win.
