Question Anyone else have problems accessing wifi using Ipod Touch in Marriott?

I can't use the Marriott ibahn wifi internet service on my Ipod Touch or my Nokia E71. It seems the only way I can get internet connectivity is using my laptop, which is a drag to have to bring when travelling.

Does anyone else have a workaround? I'm happy to pay for it if I have to, but I just want it to work.

Thanks in advance, T:-:

Yes, I have encountered this problem too.
The hotel staff could not help me.
If someone has the solution please post ASAP.

thanks

I have called support then given them my MAC address for the WiFi so they can activate it on their back end and bypass the signup page. When you do set it up, make sure that the Remember Network setting is on for that particular SSID.

Best,
Abel

Thanks for responding Abel, but I'm lost. I don't have a Mac, just an Ipod Touch. When I browse wifi networks and select the Ibahn Marriott launch page it's doesn't allow me to log on. (I can't remember exactly what it says sorry)

It's frsutrating because it's usually easy logging onto free and paid wifis, only in Marriotts have I this issue.

From Wikipedia here,

In computer networking, a Media Access Control address (MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to most network adapters or network interface cards (NICs) by the manufacturer for identification, and used in the Media Access Control protocol sub-layer. If assigned by the manufacturer, a MAC address usually encodes the manufacturer's registered identification number. It may also be known as an Ethernet Hardware Address (EHA), hardware address, adapter address, or physical address.

I don't have an ipod touch, but I do know computers and MAC addresses and such (designed a few Ethernet controllers...). Anyway, found this on the web:

Click Settings/General/About

It's shown as the Wi-Fi Address

The MAC address should look something like: 01:FE:AC:4C:5F:11.

I made the address up, but it's six sets of two digit hex(idecimnal) numbers. Sometimes called a physical address. This is not to be confused with an IP address which looks like: 192.168.15.1, which is four sets of decimal numbers with the range of 0-255 each. And don't ask why one's hex and the other is 8 bit binary represented as a decimal number and one has dot's and the other colons. It is the way is it. And it's about as old as FF programs...

Flyertalkers, thank you all very much.

Under Settings\ General\ About \
then scroll down to 'Wi-fi Address' there is an 'address' similar to the '01:FE:AC:4C:5F:11' one that Billy Delta 3MM mentions above.

So this implies I can now call up the ibahn customer service with this id and will be able to connect.

Has anyone ever had the concierge or the lounge agent call up the ibhan service centre on your behalf?

I had to do this while in Australia for a week at the Sydney Marriott. Called support, had to jump through tons of hoops, and was definitely frustrating. I stay every week at a Marriott and am supposed to get free wifi with the rate but it is too much of a pain to call every week and finagle my way into getting access just b/c the sign-up page requires flash.
