So my stay from last week just posted and I made Silver. This does mean anything? From what I can tell online its a bit of a nothing tier as far as benefits are concerned. Anything I should watch out for in terms of unpublished benefits?
Silver is a basic level. You get a 20 % point bonus and the opportunity to use the Ultimate Reservation Guarantee. For silver and gold members, this guarantee will give you $100 cash for getting bumped at limited service properties. At full service properties, you are entitled to $200 cash and 2 free night certificates (good at any Marriott property that has a room for sale).
Some properties may offer silver members a few extra things like a small gift. I never experienced this when I was a silver member, but it has been reported on FT.

The only perk I've noticed for being Silver is a complimentary upgrade to a nicer room (where they'd normally charge extra for). However, I could have also received the upgrade because it was my third or fourth stay at that property.

Congratulations ^
I am not sure if you get anything at all as a silver. I am a gold and I got it for free. But next year I won't extend it because I am already Diamond with Hilton and Hyatt and Platinum with SPG.
The only benefit of being a sliver is you don't have to bother with all the issues of being a platinum.
