Bogota Marriott: any reports?

Has anyone stayed at the Bogota Marriott? What did you think of it? Does it have an executive lounge? Does it treat elites well? And how well is it located for tourism?

my brother stayed there - he said that there was an Executive Lounge - decent hors d'oeuvres in the evenings - weird policy was limit of 2 beverages per guest (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Breakfast was pretty good too.

Location for tourism isn't the best, it's about a $15-$20 cab ride to the central/downtown part of town. The Bogota Marriott is more ideal location to be closer to the airport. There is a free shuttle to the airport as well.

Am staying at the Bogota Marriott from Labor Day through approximately September 16. Anyone recently stay there? If so, how was it?

Have heard that this is not necessarily the most "happening" area. As I will be staying there over a weekend, are there other recommendations on another hotel where to stay? Or, is this close enough to the entertainment (safe bars, etc) where we could travel from the bars back to the Marriott?

I stayed at the adjacent Sheraton earlier this year. It's an office park area, and there is nothing interesting about it. If it were me, I'd move to the Embassy Suites for the weekend. It's in a superb location where you can walk to restaurants, bars, shops. We walked by it, and were very taken with the immediate area.

Thanks for the info - will check out pricing on the Embassy Suites. With Hilton's 10 nights = 1 free night promo, I'm not averse to staying in a Hilton property!

Will post some information about the hotel / area to this thread after the stay is over. Thanks again! ;-)

There's a brand new JW in an area closer to downtown (Zona Rosa). Haven't stayed there yet so I can't comment on the exact location or amenities of the property.

Any feedback as to the JW Marriott?

Finally got to stay there this week. Beautiful hotel, as nice or nicer than the JW in Mexico City. Was a little disappointed at check-in. No rooms on Exec floors (7 and 9) and they wouldn't put me in a suite. Have high floor on my Marriott pref, but ended up in a corner room on a lower floor. I have to admit though it's quite a room, despite the view literally into the office building next door (watched a guy play Solitare). Big bathroom with separate tub/shower. Nice high shower head with plenty of pressure. Mix of wood floors and carpet. The Exec lounge is staffed by lounge dragons outside who strictly enforce the 1 guest limit. They also charged for second drink at night. The view in the lounge is decent and the food is top of the line, though I prefer the simple foods so it was a little fancy for my tastes. 2 pieces of clothing can be pressed free of charge for Exec floor or gold/plat elites. Diana in the business center was outstanding and helped with a meeting I hosted there. About $40/hr for a 12 person conference room with laptop hookup into the flat screen, coffee, water and snacks. Despite the non-upgraded room on a low floor, I definitely plan to stay here every time I come back. In my opinion it's a small hotel and that may be an issue in getting upgrades, but the new hotel feel and staff are top notch.

Bogota Marriott

Have just logged 10 nights at the Bogota Marriott - and have been quite impressived with the property and the staff. Everything has been flawless, and the dining on-site has been top-notch. For the Asian restaurant, I highly recommend the Monster roll. At the Italian restaurant, the gorgonzola steak dinner was quite good. Decent wine selection as well. As for the executive lounge, large area. Have received different responses as to how many free alcoholic / non-alcoholic drinks one can get (still don't know the exact answer) but was not charged for anything with multiple trips there. As for the internet, it is free for golds/plats - and not a bad speed - but I had to "remind" them to take it off the bill upon check-out.

How close is it to the downtown nightlife?

njcommodore Oct 26, 2010 11:56 am

10-15 min walk, 5 min cab ride

Can people who have stayed at either the JW or regular Bogota Marriott (are there 2? now I'm confused) post re: whether the exec lounge(s) were open on the weekend, & if not, if the lounge is key accessible for soft drinks, and if there's free i-net in the lounge. I'll update the exec lounge stickey after you post. Thx!

Cheers.

Yes, there are two. The regular FS Marriott is near the airport. The JW is in the banking area of downtown

For JW:
Unsure of weekend opening
Don't remember if self serve soft drinks were available, I don't think so
Free internet in the lounge.

JW Marriott Bógota Master

I did a couple searches and didn't find any reviews of the new JW Marriott in Bógota. If there are any, please remove.
Stayed at the JW Marriott in Bógota on a one-night reward stay last night (a Saturday). Very very impressed.
It is an elegant and high-end hotel with significant security. When I arrived for check-in, they gave me very personalized attention, then had me go up to the ninth floor (executive floor) to check in, and was given detailed info about the hotel and executive lounge, then the bellman gave me a "tour" of the room. I had a king-sized room on the executive floor. There is a separate bath and shower, with lovely marble and hardwood decor.
The bed was very comfortable with great pillows. Large TV channel selection. A safe of course. Fluffy robes and slippers. All the amenities.
I didn't eat at any of the restaurants, but they looked quite lovely with an upscale business crowd. The executive lounge was the most impressive part. There was a full breakfast available. They would make omelettes if you wanted. Already out were benedictine eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, cereals, fresh juices, yogurt, bread and various sweet rolls, empanadas, lots of fruits, some yogurt/fruit concoctions, cheese, salmon, other meats, a cappuccino/espresso machine. I'm sure I am forgetting things. It offers "tea service" after breakfast until late afternoon with various sweets. And in the evening there is an open bar plus quite an array of hot snacks such as mini-paninis, several kinds of cooked vegetable mixtures, a couple other cooked things, plantain chips and salsa, a few different desserts.
I used the gym which is quite nice. Technogym machines and weights with four treadmills, four ellipticals, a couple bikes. There is also a lap pool and Turkish sauna that I didn't try.
I would highly recommend this hotel. While at the JW Marriott in Rio de Janeiro last week, a fellow guest told me this hotel might be the nicest Marriott property he had stayed at. I might be inclined to agree with him.

I love that hotel, as well as the JW in Mexico City.
