different hotel

I had seen this thread, but since the Bogota Marriott and JW Marriott Bógota are two different hotels, I thought there should be two different threads. Especially since there was really no information about the JW included in this thread.

High Speed Internet, JW Bogota

Came across this last night and was a little surprised, considering how slow most internet connections are at US hotels, let alone South America

https://www.marriott.com/hotels/trav...-hotel-bogota/

"This Bogota hotel offers the highest speed Internet available (30mb bandwidth) for an invaluable entertainment experience streaming movies or music. "

Has anyone been there recently to confirm this or experienced it at other Latin American properties?

I have stayed numerous times at the Bogota Marriott (not the JW) and i can confirm the speed of the internet. I don't know if it was 30mbps, but it was fast enough to stream movies and skype video was flawless. I can't recall any Marriott in North or South America having internet as fast the Marriott BOG.

It is one of my favorite Marriott's anywhere in the world.

wow, it is pretty fast. When I miss TV during the week I like to download the shows I miss and watch them on the flight home. A 650MB 1hr show is less than 7 minutes. I agree, definitely faster than any other Marriott in North or South America I've ever been to.

I have been to Marriotts in 7 different countries in Latin America, and I have to agree. Especially the beds in this hotel are out of this world.

Location could be better though, quite a dull area.

Point Value

Looks with Point Savers the Marriott is 40k for 5 nights and the JW is 100k for 5 nights; Is the JW worth the point premium? Thanks!!

yes hands down, every day and twice on Sunday. Between the location and property it is WELL worth it.

where's the shuttle

great new/upscale amenities... ...... service especially for those coming in late at the hotel. Called at 10:45pm for the Shuttle, said it will be 15mins but apparently that's only for Delta staff. Asked driver for when my shuttle would come - 30 mins later decided to pay for a cab... h:td::mad:

AV stranded me in BOG a couple of months ago. I insisted on a Marriott, and much to my surprise, they got it for me.

I'm MR Gold, and I got the upgrade. The Hilton Bogota has always been one of my favorite hotels anywhere, but I liked the Bogota Marriott even better. (location aside)

This is an upscale hotel on par with any fine hotel I've patronized anywhere. I wish all Marriotts were this nice. Fantastic bed. Elegant bathroom with lots of "stuff" in case you forgot anything. Plenty of English TV options (for me, anyway).

I clocked the internet on speedtest.net at 20 megs down, and I don't remember the up speed, but I checked it because it was so fast. I remember the ping was quite low, too, and I had a great Skype session with my girlfriend in Medellin with no problems. This in a quite crowded hotel with many people sharing the connection, I'm sure. The Hilton has always had a fine connection, too, but this thing was blazing!
