I stayed at Renaissance La Défense beginning of July and enjoyed it very much. There was no renovation work at that time.I booked a room a little more expensive than the standard one (I'm a lowly Gold) and ended up with free internet even if I had to prove it showing copy of my reservation (free internet was intended only for some corporate customers). Stayed one floor from the lounge because I requested smoking room. I very much enjoyed the place, very very quite (with children I suppose expectations are different...)
If I was with two kids I would consider a suite at Courtyard Neuilly.
But Courtyard Neuilly is 20 minutes on foot from metro station, while Renaissance La Defense is only 10 minutes. Thus when staying at Courtyard I often end up in taxis, being such a lazy chap.

Your experience interests me anyway because up to now I used to travel alone, and now it will be with my girlfriend and our baby son.

I booked a suite on rewards once at Courtyard Neuilly, and it was 60 euros/night upgrade fee. However I noticed this hotel tends to be more and more expensive.

I searched both Rive Gauche property and the REN La Defense.
Because of the size of the party - Requested a junior suite.
At the Rive Gauche, I have to pay an upgrade fee of 100 EUR per day? I have not heard of this before?
At the REN La Defense, the upgrade fee is 40 EUR per day?
The La Def site shows that it is undergoing renovations? Anyone stayed there recently?

Can I request a normal suite and get the upgrade at check-in?

The only thing which I didn't like about the hotel is the small closet like room in which they have the WC... not in the main bathroom

If you are talking about Courtyard Neuilly suites I disagree : I liked toilets to be separated from bathroom. It is especially enjoyable when you are not alone in the suite.

Location Perfect Rive Gauche Marriott

We actually found this location to be great without the high cost of down by the Louve. The hotel is right next to the Green Metro Line which takes you everywhere you want to go. The rooms are very nice, and the food at the restaurant & Bar were wonderful. I recommend a little restaurant around the roundabout from the hotel - called Swann & Vincent - amazing food & service - we went there twice!

Just got back from a great stay at this property. Was upgraded to a fabulous junior suite looking out over the city. Especially enjoyed the complimentary in-room mini-bar which, despite the sign on the door, was replenished daily (soft drinks only).

That said, my experience with the executive lounge was different from as reported on this thread. The lounge now only serves food on weekdays. As I recall, breakfast is 6:30-10:30, tea is 3-5, hors d'oeuvres are 5:30-7:30 and apertifs are 5:30-9:30. From what I could tell, alcohol was complimentary (at least during "apertif" time). The lounge facility itself remains open from 6am to midnight daily for drinks and use of internet terminals.

I will remove the link.

I found it useful. I have never met Colleen and she does not mention the hotel by name, but if you have stayed there you KNOW it's the AA layover hotel.

FTers "demand more" ????? No, YOU demand more.... I don't think any of us should hold ourselves out as representing the majority on this board. Sorry, but asking me nicely to remove the post would have been ok, now you do sound rude.

You will need to edit your post as the link will still appear otherwise!

I'm staying at this property for an extended stay later this month and greatly appreciated the link.. Despite you removing it, grateful that the offended party quoted you so that I was able to find it.. ;)

Never been there, but the master thread on weekend lounge openings indicates that at least on weekends, the lounge is closed and no breakfast coupons for the restaurant. It's surprising because the same thread says that the other listed Paris Marriotts and Rens provide comped breakfast 7 days a week for plats/golds in their restaurants. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...-weekends.html

Earlier this year, the breakfast was seven days a week in the EL. Guess that changed.

I have a stay at this hotel in December, so I'm eagerly awaiting to hear what they do (or don't do) for Plats on the weekends for breakfast.

Last year I stayed at this hotel and had breakfast in R'Yves (hotel restaurant). I think the cost was 34 Euros. The breakfast was barely worth 3.4 Euros.

Sounds quite different from the wonderful breakfast spreads I've enjoyed at the Vendome and the Parc Trocadero.

No, no complimentary breakfast was offered on the weekend.

Hotel is great in a good location with great views if your on the street side. Executive center is awesome if you dont have internet access in your room and make sure to grab some snack before hitting the streets will save you lots of money. Had a mishap with my room on my last night were someone left the water in there bathroom on and it caused my ceiling in the bathroom to cave in they moved me to another standard room and brought wine cheese and room service also gave me codes room in room internet. Tried to get points on top of that but they said they had done enough.

My 2 cents ... I stayed at the Marriott Rive Gauche in Oct 2008, and was less than impressed with the concierge lounge after having stayed at the Hilton Arc de Triomphe. Now THAT's a lounge! Full complimentary self-serve bar, and food offerings worthy of a restaurant all day long. So if you have a few extra HHonors points kicking around, treat yourself to at least one night at the Hilton ADT. ;)

I am having trying to decide between this hotel and the Hilton Arc de Triomphe now. I love this Hilton, especially for the lounge. However, on our next trip we would like to see a less touristy side to Paris. I cannot remember if there are less touristy neighborhoods close by to here.
