Thanks for the additional info. Njupintheair, I apologize for my grumpiness. Thanks for your help.

I certainly do not intend to go in and eat a breakfast that I'm not entitled to. This is my first year being gold, and going to an international hotel. I was trying to determine the usual procedures of this hotel so I would know what to expect and plan accordingly. As a gold, I understand I can eat breakfast in the cl on weekdays. And this will be quite enough. If the hotel staff invites us to go eat breakfast in the restaurant that first day, or the lounge, we will accept. But I wouldn't ask.

Steve --

Ask!!! The worst is that they say no. However, if you are early and the lounge or restaurant is open and you are hungry, then by all means ask. I have received this perk on occasion at Hilton and Marriott properties -- just depends on the time of arrival and your digestive tract! :)

Have had the same experience & agree w/ you. The hotel wouldn't offer breakfast while waiting if they didn't want you to have it.

Cheers.

What I meant to do was my asking the Mod to consolidate this in a PM to him, but I became confused and hit the wrong key and posted that message instead.

Guess if you let the mod do his own job there wouldn't be any confusion ;) :p :D

Sounds like Steve's got his answer on this specific property now, and others will know as well re: room in morning & brekkie.

Cheers.

You might be surprised as to the sheer number of threads that have been consolidated by permitting the moderator to do his job,

I've checked in pretty early a couple of times at this hotel... Twice I've checked in at 9am and been given a room. But I've also typically called ahead the day before and requested an early check in. This was as a Platinum member.

3 for 3 on early check in at this property. I think 1 x as gold and 2 x as plat of vice versa. They generally seem quite happy to help with requests.

My back up is to always have the toothbrush and some fresh clothes on the top of layer of my bag. If you can't check in early - just ask them where you can change.

Of all the places in the world not to worry about lounge or no lounge - cause - really - you're in Paris!! - buzz out of the hotel - go find a cafe somewhere grab a coffee and watch the world go by :D

What kind of power outlets are available at this hotel?

I am assuming that they have the same outlets that are in the rest of France.

Is this the case, or do the rooms also have american style outlets too?

Thanks

Steve Weagant Mar 24, 2013 12:43 pm

I'll answer my own question plus describe my check in experience

The outlets are the French style. No problem for me.

Check in was awesome. I am a gold. The room was ready and we were checked into a 17th floor room with concierge lounge access. We were invited to have breakfast in the restaurant. That was a class act. The restaurant was supposed to close at 10:30. We arrived at 10:15 and were allowed to eat at a relaxed pace. People kept coming in even after 10:30. They were accommodated to. A tall hostess was very poised and efficient. A great effort.

The concierge can provide you with an AC adapter for the duration of your stay. They will ask you to sign a 10 Euro voucher, which is voided upon return of the item.

IMO the Rive Gauche has the best Lounge staff I've experienced to date. The service was just as stated here and we were there at the peak of the summer tourist season.

Glad it worked out for you. Based upon the positive reviews herein and on T/A my brother booked this hotel for his family vacation to Paris. The lounge itself should save him many Euros for his party of 5 booked in 2 rooms.

Staying here for 2 nights before heading to the Champs Elysses Marriott.
Sounds like they treat plats well.

Spent 7 nights on an LNF rate that included breakfast.
The first night was given an extremely small room with extremely poor wifi. I did look online and the hotel was completely sold out so i knew there would not be an upgrade.
Asked to be upgraded for the remaining nights and was given a suite which completely changed my opinion of this hotel! Wifi was fast, a king side bed with a separate living area, two separate bathrooms.
After having stayed at the Marriott Berlin, I was very disappointed in the MRG
EL although pleased to have breakfast in the restaurant thanks to my rate.
There is a Gerard Mulot nearby with crazy delicious macarons!
Also a monoprix and laundry facility as well

Does the hotel offer free wine in the early evening in the executive lounge?

As PP, what can I expect, if anything, for the arrival gift amenity here?

I assume the room will have a bathrobe, but what about slippers, especially if I don't get an upgrade?

Do the rooms have any sort of coffee making equipment? If so, details please.

Thanks.
