Hello All,
I just stayed a few nights at the hotel and had a positive experience. Couple of things I noted: 1. You have an option to waive housekeeping and in return get a $5 discount coupon for breakfast in the hotel restaurant or 500 SPG points. This option does not apply on date of departure. 2. Your hotel room card gives you free entrance to the MIT museum which is a short walk away. I enjoyed the museum. 3. The attached parking lot does has self park option. IIRC, it has a overnight rate for something like $9 for arrival after 6pm but leave before 8am. 4. The #1 bus on Mass. Ave is another good alternative to get to Boston and with good connections to the Green T line. Hope these helps! |
Just wrapped up a single night stay at the Le Meridien, Cambridge - selected largely based on posts to this thread. I used one of my free weekend nights from Q2 Promo, so I am not sure about value for the money.
This weekend was a big Cambridge regatta, so all of the hotels were full, which of course is code for that's why a SPG Plat gets a lousy room while a bunch of high school crew get the suites... Suffice it to say I was a little peeved when I was given an "upgraded" room immediately across from the elevators. I mean, anytime I go to a Holiday Inn Express or a Hampton Inn, they at least put me down the hall from the elevator. *Wood must think we like the proximity to that or the ice machines. Room we finally ended up with was poorly housekept (word?), with an empty shampoo bottle and hair all over the bathroom. Tub (this is a pet peeve of mine) didn't drain AT ALL - which you would think would make it difficult for the housekeepers to even clean the tubs. Nothing there for plats (no coupon for food, no lounge, nada) and partyers in the courtyard "garden" were easily heard through the windows. I continue to be unimpressed with the implementation of the Le Meridien brand in the US. Stay in them overseas and am wowed on a regular basis. |
I just checked in for a three night stay this weekend using a combo of 2 FWN and 10K points.
As an SPG Platinum I was upgraded to a Suite...The Presidential Suite! This thing is awesome. You enter into a foyer decorated with local art. It has 1.5 baths, Master Bath has a stand up shower with three heads, and a jacuzzi. The master bedroom has a walk in closet, couch, and several other chairs. It has a living room with two more couches, this area has a bose surround sound player also. The dining room table has seating for 8. It also has a breakfast bar with seating for three. Full kitchen, refrigerator with ice maker, and to top it off it has an office. Needless to say I <3 spg today! I just counted. It has seating for 30. Ridiculous |
I'll be staying here for 5 days or so on business and was looking for more information regarding the suite described as 1 King +1 Single Sofa Bed, Suite Non-smoking, Luxury Pillowtop Bed, Corner Room, Living Area, 42 Inch Lcd Tv. There is a price difference of only $50 compared to the Deluxe room on a prepaid rate. If you have a review, comments and pics, it would be much appreciated! thanks!

Bedroom The room was just large enough for the bed and two nightstands. The TV was hung off the wall. The bed was very comfortable. Living room Nice size with a full couch, table and desk. Plenty of lighting and the TV is good sized. The couch is comfortable. Overall a good space. Bathroom Usual hotel size and style. Nothing special. I only stayed one night and enjoyed the extra space and would think for a 5 day stay it's worth a little extra per night. I hope this helps. |

There's a fantastic North African restaurant called Baraka Cafe (www.barakacafe.com/) a short walk away from this hotel. It's in the middle of a residential neighborhood and is an absolute hidden jewel. Make sure you try their cherbat (rosewater lemonade)!

I don't have too much more input on the rooms here as I usually like to stay at the Sheraton Commander instead, but two great restaurants within this area are Toscanini's (for ice cream - incredible ice cream micro-sundaes, in my opinion) and Central Kitchen. For lunch, Central Kitchen has the single best egg sandwich I have ever had... ever.

I'll second "Central Kitchen".
It's very good upscale "comfort food". |
If you like really good BBQ, take the Red Line to Davis Square and go to Redbones.

Pics of Corner Suite at Le Meridien Cambridge, MA
Below are a few pics of the corner suite at Le Meridien Cambridge where I stayed earlier last month.
My only quibble was that the work desk was tucked away in a claustrophobia-inducing corner of the receiving room, which made it not very conducive to doing much work for an extended period of time (I used the dining area instead). Other than that, it was a pleasant stay. ^ Hope these pics help. :D http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...1-img-4402.jpg http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...0-img-4398.jpg http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...9-img-4392.jpg http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...8-img-4389.jpg http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...7-img-4381.jpg http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...6-img-4379.jpg http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...5-img-4374.jpg http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...2-img-4404.jpg |

Hi NBSPGMEMBER,
I just sent you a PM with links to additional pics. Yes, the bathroom was CLEAN and well-maintained. |
Is Logan to Le Méridien manageable on the T? Outside of rush hour of course... and I only have a large suitcase and a small bag. What is the best way? Blue line, then the Red or Silver line & the Red? I'm comfortable with subways, trains and transit in general. Thanks!
