(just like the the points about SGS, SI earlier.. which are not only irrelevant, but out of point.)

Did it ever occur to you that I actually measured the distance a few hours ago, and KL has not seen a drop of rain the past few days. So who's not listening here ?

In Singapore, many people prefer to stay at Fairmont, as it is right next to the train station, and it is a 10 mins train ride to Ion Orchard, the journey is fully sheltered.

Fairmont (formerly Westin Plaza) is part of Raffles City, and you can also walk to Marina City & Suntec City though an underground mall.

No body stays there because its a 10 min MRT ride to ION.

How are the Club Lounge food options at this property (compared to the Le Méridien and Westin (which I've heard is great)) ?

for me, the club lounge food option are quite similar between 3 of them . but for overall experience, I will prefer the new lounge in Westin.

If you are staying in Sheraton and like chinese food, you should try Celestial Court in Sheraton.

I actually found the lounge offerings at the Sheraton superior to the one at Westin during the happy hour. At first the Westin appeared to have more items on offer, but they are all plated in very small portions and disappear very quickly – i.e. you end up bringing to your table four plates/bowls, with a tiny piece of food on each one, finish them all with a bite each and return to get more and notice that they are all empty and you need to wait for the kitchen to bring out a fresh set out.

At the Sheraton, you do not hv as many choices, but they are generously laid out, and you can take however many pieces of whatever you want onto your plate. They are also replenished a lot quicker too. Not sure if it is in light of the ‘eat well’ slogan that the Westin has, but I found the eating during the happy hour more frustrating than satisfying. Just my two cents.

Having said that, the made to order afternoon high-tea are fantastic at the Westin.

Very well put and accurate. At the Westin, I found that having each bite-sized morsel on its own individual mini saucer made carrying the food to one's seat very cumbersome. Plus the view from the lounge at the Sheraton is far superior.

Just returned from the lounge at the Westin for the 3rd night and I'm fed up with the small serving with big dishes (and hot food being served cold) and with them being completely unprepared for the number of people - and the lounge isn't even full. This combined with small children using the long walkway as a way to practice their running skills (with neither parent nor staff stopping them) doesn't make for a pleasant experience.
OTOH - there are bountiful (and varied cost) choices right across the street in Pavilion so the location allows one options if the lounge isn't to their taste:)

It's some years ago since my last visit to KL.

As far as I remember, around the westin there were some cafes and Restaurants within walking distance, but from the Sheraton you would have to take a cab to those places. Is that right?

And is one of them within walking distance to petronas Towers?

Heritage Row on Jalan Doraisamy has quite a few restaurants and clubs (comes alive in the evening) and it's next to the Sheraton. In addition, Madu Junction and Sogo, which are also within walking distance, have food courts and cafes. However, the area around the Westin has more cafes and is more fun to walk around. In addition, the Pavilion shopping mall, offering additional restaurants and cafe choices, is opposite the hotel, . From there, a covered walkway and tunnel system leads all the way to the Petronas Towers (about a 15-minute walk). Of course, the hotels are only 3 monorail stops (10 minutes max) from each other.

I'm contemplating booking a Club Room for 3 nights here in a few weeks. I've seen a number if references on Trip Advisor about noise to early morning from nearby nightclubs, even on "higher floors".

Noise is a big deal for me. Would appreciate any comments about the reality of external late night noise in Club level floors and any tips / particular areas (ie facing X way or Y) to avoid noise exposure.

Thanks

newshound May 19, 2013 9:23 pm

I was on a very very high floor and the noise was definitely noticable. My room was facing toward the bar area below but I was surprised the noise reached so high.
