Renaissance-Tulsa, OK [Master Thread]

I just completed a 1.5 week stay at the Tulsa Renaissance. I wanted to take a minute and brag on this hotel. As a Plat member of Marriott I've had the opportunity to stay at some very nice hotels. This hotel ranks up there with any of them. From their extremely friendly staff to their amazing Conceirge lounge, this place does it all. There was always a friendly face or someone to say hello to me whenever arriving and leaving.
Their conceirge lounge is one of the best I've been to. Hot dishes prepared by their restaurant chef accompained by great service. To anyone who is staying in Tulsa, stay at the Renaissance and not the Marriott Southern Hills. I stayed there for 3 nights during my stay and was utterly dissapointed...rude staff, bad food, etc.

Feel free to post comments.

Points -- welcome to Flyer Talk.

Your comments about this hotel are "right on."

The lounge is excellent...the staff is excellent...if I remember correctly, they are one of the few lounges that had both Coke AND Pepsi. It;s a wonderful hotel.

I totally agree too. I visited the hotel for a site visit early in the year and was wowed by their staff and service. It is a great property that has figured out how to cater to their guests needs.

I totally concur about the Marriott Southern Hills. This in all my years as a Platinum is by far the worst hotel I have experienced in terms of their treatment and utter disdain for Platinums.

If I dont get an upgrade this week (if they do indeed have upgraded rooms available at Marriott Southern Hills) I will switch to the Renaissance for the last 2 nights of my stay this week to see what I get in terms of Platinum benefits.

Will post and let you know if my experiences are the same. Back to Hilton next week for the rest of this year but it will be interesting the last couple of nights for Marriott this year to test out a Renaissance.

Agreed! :D

The restaurant downstairs, forgot the name, which also is part of the room service, is hands down one of the best hotel restaurants I have ever been to.

The french onion soup is to die for. :p

(Is this an old thread or what?)

Spent a Friday night at this hotel this past January. Place was fairly busy and very clean and very quiet. I don't ask a lot out of my hotel or the staff, but the Ren was everything I needed and more.

I was traveling without my laptop, and the front desk found me a Pizza Hut within seconds :)

We stayed at the Tulsa Renaissance on a Plat BOGO. We also used the BOGO in the restaurant. We had a terriffic experience and found out that the restaurant is rated in the top 5 of Renaissance restaurants in the world. The food and service were great. We are looking forward to going back.

I'm on week 2 of 3 at this property and things haven't changed much! The service is good (with a few tiny exceptions) the lounge staff are the nicest I've ever encountered. The hotel doesn't seem too busy (at any time during the week) and the indoor creek complete with turtles and coy is a great spot to sit and relax.

The pool and workout areas are good, restaurant is pretty good, though I found the ceasar salad portion very very small. They always have very creative soups each day and the bar staff is great. There's also just about any restaurant you want within a 10 min drive. There's a Carabba's that you could walk to (as long as it's not that hot) a Cheddar's, a couple mexican places, and a Cheesecake Factory is about 10 minutes away.

Two things that irk me: They don't replenish the toiletries or water every day (edit: must've only been the floor I was on last week, as this week it's fine), I've mentioned this several times but have never gotten them reliably. I just get them from the front desk. Second, the internet is pretty slow.

Lastly, both weeks I've gotten upgraded to a suite with 2 balconies that has a great view towards the southwest (x31 and x33 are the rooms you want). They have a living room, huge bedroom, and a wraparound balcony with entrances (LR and BR).

Overall just a great property. So great that I don't mind driving the hour each way to my client! (There's nothing near them, so it's at least 35 min to the closest hotel).

Do you know if the exec lounge is open on the weekends? If not, are brekkie coupons offered? If it's closed, is it key accessible for sodas? Does it have i-net terminals or free wifi? Please post & I'll update the exec lounge sticky. If you're not there on weekends, could you ask the FDC & report back. Thx!

Cheers.

Sorry Sharon, totally meant to include that in my post!

Lounge is not open on weekends (Sun after 5pm excluded), no coupons offered. Not key accessible. For use during the week there is wifi and an internet terminal.

Thanks. I'll update the stickey.

I stay here whenever I am in Tulsa and also love the hotel. The only issue I ever had was when the PBR was in town and the guests were a bit rowdy in the halls early in the morning--but that isn't the hotel's fault.

I used the search feature and not much came up about Tulsa in this forum; however, it appears that folks are happy with the Renaissance, and while I have no experience there, I would steer clear of the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills. The best word to describe most of the staff would be indifferent, and for the rest, the word would be difficult. We had one person welcome us to the hotel in the lobby, and from there, the stay was met with one difficulty after another.

Being part of a non-profit conference, I tried to put on my best smiling face; however, from non-working room keys that work the elevator to the executive floor, to the maintenance staff who speak little English except Front Desk, who then tells you the keys work. Getting stuck in an elevator between floors and having the food and beverage not come off your bill as the FD said it would because of the room rate paid, but having the new FD clerk argue about the charges until you pull out your reservation.

The facilities are basically as nice as they can be for a remodeled facility; however, the attitude of the staff would make me avoid this place entirely. Besides the one person saying welcome on the way in, I interacted with at least a half-dozen others who did not show the bit of hospitality.

Wife and I stayed at the Ren and loved it. Ordered room service steaks and they were cooked perfectly and were melt in your mouth good. Only place I will stay when in Tulsa.
