As an alternative approach with comparable effect, I start on my iphone an app like Sonic that generates sound, set it to 3000-3500 Hz, turn speaker on, up the volume, and put on earphones (off) to save my ears.

They usually change seat or, in case of walk&talkers, just walk away 😉

Oh, and someone should edit the title of this thread...I'm pretty sure it's etiquette that is at question here, not edicate, unless I'm missing something.
I thought it mightve been an intentional pun since its about people being talking loudly. A conjunction between edict and ate to proclaim loudly when others dont really care.

I sent an Alert yesterday, for Post # 1. "Please retitle", followed two lines down by the current title, ">>", and on the next line, my suggested new title.

That is what the triangle enclosing an exclamation mark (🔺️) (!) at the bottom left corner of each post is for, inter alia. Moderators do not search threads looking for suggested title changes.

An original poster (OP) cannot edit a title.

I don't think we can do much to generalise which lounges expect quiet and which don't, but in my experience, whether a lounge permits children is a good indicator of whether guests are expected to be quiet.

Personally, I've come to expect noise in lounges and it doesn't bother me much. The noisiest lounge experiences I have had did not involve phone calls, it involved groups of people in the lounge together. Phone noise is especially annoying though... better to have a noisy group than a noisy phone call.
Unfortunately very few lounges ban children.

In my experience, children are very rarely the biggest problem.

Indeed, when a child is a problem, the parent is usually the bigger problem!

I had to check this out:

Sonic Wave! Generate custom frequencies, drive away insects, train your dog, and test stereo channels, bss, and sound levels with clear sound wave!
May have to give this a try.
