Reward Night/Points Increase?
Did something happen in the last day or two? I am heading to Panama and Chile in February and of course have hotels booked and such but just noticed overnight the point redemptions doubled in price? A massive increase - hopefully it is just a hiccup and not across the board. I am just curious if others have noticed that as I have been closely monitoring these on an on-going basis so it became very obvious to me for this area. If this was truly the case, this would be the final straw in truly becoming a free agent and loyalty would be gone from my end. It is already challenging looking at other hotels in certain areas where pricing can be much less in instances in comparison to Marriott pricing. Hopefully I am incorrect but very glad I secured a couple of these hotels prior.

I've found "dynamic" to be an apt term. Back in April, I booked a 5 night trip over Thanksgivng that has inched up in points throughout the year. Last week, it dropped below what I initially booked it at so I got a few thousand points back.

how do you get points back - other than canceling an existing award stay and re-booking?

Be careful though if you have any FNAs in your account as Marriott will always default to this first. |
I've seen price or redemption points up and down over the years. Have save money/points by modifying the bookings.

I just logged in again and it looks like things have got back to normal. It must have been just a short term hiccup. I check point redemptions very frequently and always see changes where I make adjustments, I just have never seen such a substantial change like that and honestly did not really surprise me with some of the MAR decisions being made.

View your reservation, then click on Modify. You will be presented with same room type (if available) at the new price and xxxx pts will be returned to your account. Points are returned instantaneously.

Spoiler
Two of my reservations dropped today, but website is not cooperating! |

Edit: if I’m not mistaken, you can’t even cancel a reservation on the app. It redirects you to the website. |

I’ve always done this on website. On the app, I only see an option to cancel. Am I missing something?

change reservation does not work on the app for you?
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...214845aea8.png Then when I click on Modify or Cancel, I get this screen: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c390e074cf.png There is no option to Modify, only Cancel. And I was wrong. You can cancel a reservation by clicking on that link. It doesn't take you to the website. Is anyone else seeing an option to Modify on iOS app? |
Nevermind, misread the previous post!
