Just got some photos of the interiors and it's exactly as detailed above: a very, very lazy warm over of the nearly-completed interiors of the frozen Grand Murwab City Center Doha. The interiors already look like they're ten years old [which they nearly are, considering the towers were completed in 2011/12], and the hotel only opens on Friday.
Sad - Marriott is really tanking the Le Méridien brand name.

Marriott doesn’t seem to care about the brand standards of almost any of the former SPG brands, it’s sad. Look at the recent St. Regis openings too, the new Doha property, Bermuda, Dubai Downtown, none of them should really carry the St. Regis flag…

I have just completed a two night stay in the LeMeridien City Center Doha. The first night was paid and the second was a reward night certificate. Was upgraded to a one bedroom sea view suite on 19th floor before arrival with a fruit basket, two bottles of Italian water, and some sweets awaiting in the room. The suite was spacious. The only negative was that the sofa and chairs were not very comfortable to seat on. The lounge provided some hot and cold food with a happy hour from 5 to 7 pm that was sufficient for a light dinner. The staff was very welcoming and made sure that our glasses were full. The breakfast was in restaurant with a buffet and cook-to-order eggs. Our preceding night was in Grand Hyatt Doha and by a comparison the breakfast in LeMeridien had lesser varieties and the Hollandaise sauce for the Eggs Benedict was not quite right. We have asked for a 4 pm late checkout but were allowed to stay only till 1 pm because of the Formula One in Doha and Geneva auto show nearby. Overall, the stay was fine but nothing really special.
Note that this hotel has two swimming pools. The one on the lower floors is open air and is rather small. The second one is on the 40th (?) floor with a great view but it is indoor only and it smells chlorine. We did not use either of the pools. From 19th floor we had a view of much nicer pools of the neighboring hotels.

The Le Meridien City Center is definitely something - despite the design, I think this is the one of the three City Center properties I would return to as the JW had too stiff of a mattress and the Marriott has a quite dated design. Here are my impressions and photos:
Pros:
Neutral:
Cons:
Photos (please expand the Spoiler tag):
Pros:
- Upgraded to an Executive Suite before arrival
- Bed is generally comfortable - mattress is medium and slightly plush, covers are of okay plushness for the climate, pillows are plush
- Shower pressure is pretty good
- Offered late checkout proactively
- Club lounge had good brownies and papadum at afternoon and good pizza at evening service
- Breakfast only offered in restaurant and was good - good omelet, good barista coffee, good hashbrown
Neutral:
- Ran out of body wash in the shower stall - they should be better about filling these up
Cons:
- No in-room Ambassador welcome gift
- One of the hand towels had some staining
- Couch and couch pillows were not very comfortable
- I don’t like the design very much

Be aware:
- upgraded to an apartment (cheap, dated interior, no separate shower)
- no MALIN + GOETZ amenities but something cheap chinese
- swimming pool (open air) is really small, swimming pool (indoor) at the 43th floor is ok
- gym (43th floor) is really small
- lounge: happy hour 17.00 - 20.00 BUT: LIMIT OF 2 ALCOHOLIC DRINKS (125 ml red / white wine, Heineken 0,33) PER DAY
Price was around 400 QAR - the WESTIN was about 450 QAR - and this is another level of service

I remember it was difficult getting wine top ups when I was there a couple of years back. The servers just seem to disappear after the initial rush.
I asked one at 19:55 could I have a topup? He said "sorry, last orders was 20:00". I showed him the time, and he reluctantly went and got me a another glass.
