Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Limassol Cyprus [Master Thread]

This was the former Le Meridien, which underwent renovation & has been re-branded to Luxury Collection. Since it's re-branded & things are probably different than in LeMeridien days, thought it made sense to create a master thread for it under its new incarnation.

Marriott press release today:

https://news.marriott.com/2019/04/th...outhern-coast/

announced the opening of Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Limassol....A 15-minute drive east from Limassol – the storied city on the southern coast of Cyprus – Parklane is situated on 100,000 square metres of lush, landscaped gardens and boasts a 300-metre pristine sandy beach....274 guestrooms and suites, designed by Harrods Interiors...The 52 suites, some set over two storeys with sleek architectural flair, entice with teak-decked private pools....... the resort boasts an adults-only wing comprising of 16 Lifestyle Suites and a swimming pool....restful retreat is the 3,000 square metre Kalloni Spa....the enviable 3,000 square metre Park Kidz.... the resort is also home to three tennis courts, three outdoor and one indoor swimming pools and a PADI diving centre, with horse riding and golf courses close by."

More details in press release.

Category 8. Hotel website:

https://www.marriott.com/hotels/trav...-spa-limassol/

Surrounded by 100,000 sqm (25 acres) of landscaped gardens, the resort welcomes guests with a picturesque lane that snakes through a verdant grove of evergreen olive, citrus and palm trees - setting the mood for the serene experience that awaits. Three outdoor and one indoor swimming pool (one filled with seawater and one for adults only) glisten in front of the main building, surrounded by cabanas, waterbeds and lounge areas for outdoor dining and drinks. The perfect seaside gateway is completed with a special all-day facility for children, a luxurious spa area, a vast ballroom, conference facilities, five restaurants, two bars and a 300 meter long sandy beach. The facilities are open throughout the year for work or pleasure to both guests and the general public.

Cheers.

I have a stay coming up next month and will also report back. It doesn't seem like it's possible to book a cash rate without breakfast currently. Straight in as a Category 8 upon opening which probably makes cash rates (in the EUR 300-400 range) better value for the time being than the points rate which is also lacking breakfast.

Cat 8 feels pretty unreasonable for the resort given both the price and also its looks...

So I'm here now, building itself is not the most attractive, there's no getting around that. However, they've spent an absolute fortune renovating it with no cutting corners I can see anywhere. The hard product in my suite is 100% worthy of being a Category 8. The grounds are beautiful too - overall this is one of the nicest resorts physically I've seen in Europe.

Some photos below from my stay last month. The quality of the finish here is spot on, service was generally great too. Food was not Michelin star quality, but for a European beach resort it was really good. The other guests are heavily weighted towards Russians as stated in @khabah's review. There were a lot of families as expected at a European beach resort in summer and breakfast was a bit of a zoo as a result, but otherwise I hung out in the adult-only wing and it was a peaceful haven. Can't wait to go back.

@lost_in_translation I was upgraded to a Lifestyle Suite in the adults-only wing too, but mine was on the top floor. Agreed re the finishings - the hotel was clearly redone with the best in quality. Glad you got a ground-floor room with a pool - neat! I believe they were still being finalized when I was there, but then again, I visited shortly after they reopened. Happy to see that you were treated to that beautiful VC rosé - yiamas.

Gotta get back to Cyprus ASAP...

I paid a supplement (I think it was just the cash difference between the two rooms) to get the private pool but was more than happy to. Could see in the App I had been pre-upgraded to a Panoramic Suite a couple of weeks out and then emailed the hotel to ask how much extra it would be to get one of the Lifestyle Suites with a pool instead. Didn't sound like they'd give it as a complimentary upgrade, but not sure.

Elite treatment was very good though, I booked the hotel car and the Chief Concierge came to the airport to escort me at baggage reclaim for a flight landing after 11pm!

I actually brought my own champagne for the trip (I'm insanely fussy I know! :P) but the hotel did provide a pretty decent bottle of champagne as part of a welcome gift which was very generous :).

Cyprus generally is a beautiful place but very hot at this time of year!

By the way, Limassol is misspelled in the thread title if a kind mod could correct that!

I'm wondering if anyone can provide any additional feedback on the beach for this property. OP's quote of the announcement mentions that the hotel "boasts a 300-metre pristine sandy beach..." I'm wondering whether that is true and why it is so hard to find photos of the beach for this hotel. The one above that shows a slight portion of the beach doesn't make the beach look all that great and the fact that you can't see anyone in the water has me concerned. Therefore, any additional feedback would be appreciated.

At the property now with family.

I agree, that hard product is great, impressed by heated outdoor pool with current 13C and well soundproofed terrace windows.

Service has had some issues, but service recovery goodwill was satisfying.

Got upgraded to suite before stay, but then downgraded, cause Panoramic Suites were flooded, finally got Family Suite, which is basically two regular rooms put together, one room divided to sparse child playground/bedroom. Costs 600 EUR low season and 1000 EUR high season. Crazy pricing, if you ask me.

Hotel has several quirks.

For some reason, they have decided to play quite loud Christmas music in corridors so it leaks into rooms a bit.

Beds are quite soft, even when removing the topper, so asked for rollaway, but turns out they do not have rollaway beds.
Also had some keycard issues, but these were solved fast.

Resort clientele, at least around NYE seem to be mostly Russian families and locals on staycation. Inner pool/sauna are sometimes overcrowded by screaming children, there is no adult-only inner pool. Park Kidz club is great big house with its own playgrounds, but mostly oriented for younger kids, under 10y.

They have every day 5pm complimentary coffee-tasting and on Wednesdays 6pm wine-tasting though, that is open to all guests.

Breakfast spread is lavish and high-quality and service there is effective, however with housekeeping there have been some cleanliness issues, although personnel-to-guest ratio seems high.

Hotel location is isolated and far from Limassol centre, so unless you rent a car or taxi, you are stuck with hotel food offerings, burger is 21 EUR, though there is small convenience shop inside hotel too. There are no menus on website, or in-room, although manager promised to fix it. Cocktails are reasonable for 5-star-hotel, 10-12 EUR.

Bus to center is cheap, 1,5 EUR, but takes 35 minutes. Noticed, that in February they have 162 EUR rate incl. 50 EUR hotel credit per DAY, which is quite a good deal for this place, that costs over 300 EUR in high season.

Hotel toiletries are by Philosykos, never seen the fragrance before and not really a fan. Surprised, that they chose such a unknown brand here.

In tech space, they have wireless charger in rooms and universal plugs too, but no Bluetooth speaker. For connecting guest devices, there is Miracast, which does not work with Apple devices.

Regarding beach, there is nice walkaway on coast, but no real beach to speak of.

All-in-all would probably return, but in summer, when all pools are open.

The toiletries are Diptyque, a fairly well known French perfume brand. Philosykos is the fragrance (which I like). I found the Diptyque products higher quality than 95% of hotel toiletries.

Fantastic stay as always at the Parklane

Love this property and treated so well thanks to my status. Both times upgraded and both times got champagne and sweets. Perfect vacay even though weather (just for today) isn't cooperating. All for a wonderful price of 112 euros per night with breakfast thanks to BRG!

Arrived yesterday for my first travel since Covid has changed the world.

Prior reviews remain accurate: Excellent hard product.

Used SNAs to get a lifestyle suite very similar to those shown in earlier posts, but failed to secure an upgrade to a suite with a private pool as they told me they were booked all but one night of my stay.

How full is the hotel would you say at the moment? Debating going back next month.
