But you are wrong. On the date the reservation was made for the money is deducted from your account. It is only then that the penny drops that the reservation you tried to make and which the system told you 'cannot be made just now',with no confirmation e-mail and Marriott customer services confirming there was nothing there, was live all the time. Probably why some of us are still getting this on our reservation's page: 'Unfortunately there's an issue displaying some of your reservations. Please check back later. We apologise for any inconvenience.'

I have a pre paid booking made on 13 October for December where the money has yet to be deducted from my credit card.
Have an email confirmation of the reservation and I check every few days to see if they have taken the money yet and also if the reservation is still showing.
Will have to keep an eye on it as I don't want to be checking in and find I have no reservation and also have to pay the room rate again etc.

Does the reservation show up on marriott.com or the mobile app? It sounds like it does, but you specified email.

If you have proof of the reservation and the hotel doesn't honor it you should get walked to another hotel and compensation. You could also call Marriott and ask them to confirm the reservation. Are you sure that the payment you specified in the reservation is valid?

OTOH there are reports here that many hotels don't charge the credit card on supposedly prepaid reservations until close to the check in date. There's no consistency and not having the funds be charged/debited doesn't necessarily mean anything AFAIK.

Yes, reservation showing on website and the app.
Also have an email confirmation when booking was made.
I also thought I had old credit card info specified (Expiry was October 2018) but have looked and it is correct to the new card issued.
Once I did have a booking at another hotel where the payment was declined as I had forgotten to update the card info and they contacted me.

I have stayed at this hotel a lot and have always had a pre paid reservation charged to my card within 3 days of making it.
I also noticed booking that the hotel (Four Points) would come up in searches using a Marriott Promo code where as all the other old SPG BKK properties did not so took this as it already being under the Marriott system for reservations etc.

No problem for me, just need to keep the funds available and keep an eye on the reservation either through the app or website... plus keep the email confirmation handy if needed.

First time I have a pre paid reservation under the marriott system so unaware they do sometimes charge the card closer to check in date.

As a follow up, checked in last Thursday morning and that's when the room cost was charged to the card even though it was a prepaid booking made around 2 months earlier.
It will be a bit annoying if this is how a pre paid booking will work now as exchange rate dropping could make the room more expensive, but then the upside is if it improves you end up saving.

One other "fail" was I checked the SPG App on m phone and the room type was specified as Suite but a Deluxe had been booked and on check in no mention of room upgrade (Gold) but did receive a corner room which is the next step up from Deluxe a the hotel I stayed in.
All through the 4 night stay the App showed room type as Suite, not worth compiling over as I knew what I had booked and received next room category upgrade as I thought I would.
