Doubledipping AA eShopping and Marriott points
Does anyone know if you get BOTH AA miles and Marriott points if you book your hotel stay though the eShopping link (or with eShopping toolbar activated)?
Tx |
I certainly think so. You basically click through AAdvantage site to the Marriott site and you make your reservation on the official Marriott website, thus you are entitled to your points and miles.
|
So there is a promo right now on the AAdvantage eshopping site where you get 4 AA miles instead of one for booking. What if the stay is for next year? How is the IT system sophisticated enough to know and capture the stay once it actually happens? Marriott systems are so screwed up right now I just can’t imagine it can tell if the stay really occurs and not cancelled. |
Wondering the same thing. Also - does the reservation spend count towards the current portal bonus of 4,000 miles?
|
Has anyone ever actually had this work? I've made a few reservations with Marriott through the aadvantage eshopping link and have never had miles credited. The portal shows a "store visit", but never a transaction.
|
Worked for me.
i reserved on Marrriott a one night using the AA link on 12/27 the AA points hit my account on 1/7. So so it does work in away it was a triple dip booked and got the 4x AA, used a Amex offer $200/$40 to buy a gift card, at the front desk, and pay for the rooms ($84). Got the 15x Marriott, plus it was my 75th Night. |
Yes this has worked for me recently. Few days ago I even saw a bonus of 6 miles per dollar from AA eShopping
|
Marriott is currently showing 10X through the AAdvantage portal.
|
I was skeptical of the AA Shopping Portal (having read numerous horror stories) but I can confirm that it worked! Booked a non-refundable AAA rate when the portal was giving 10x AA miles, and the miles were deposited ~ 2.5 weeks later. Painless process.
|
Its inconsistent... sometimes you get them other times you don't...
|
I have two reservations booked through the AA eshopping portal. Both are prepaid. If this works, why would you ever NOT make a reservation through the EShopping portal. I got 6x points, which is even better. Portal shows my visit and dollars spent right now, I assume points will post after my stays. Will report back.

The problem is when you've got too many cookie conflicts and other issues that cause the booking to never track in the first place... |
Is all Autograph Collection hotels excluded via AA eshopping or is it just their wording? In AA website, it is worded as follow:
Mileage termsPlease note these terms & conditions: Rooms offered at specially negotiated rates, where the customer is required to be affiliated with or employed by a particular company or organization to receive the special rate (e.g., corporate rate, government rate or the Marriott employee rate) are not eligible. Rooms offered at specially negotiated rates for Marriott Bonvoy™ members (e.g. Marriott Bonvoy™ offer discount, Marriott Bonvoy™ offer package), with the exception of Marriott Bonvoy™ Member rates are not eligible. Rooms that are booked or upgraded and paid for using redeemed Marriott Bonvoy™ Points are not eligible. Rooms booked at the brands Ritz-Carlton Destination Club, Design Hotels, Bulgari, Atlantis, Autograph Collection, Bulgari Hotel, London, Joshua G.E. Medical Corp. Conference Center, Jesse Jones Rotary Conference Center, Marriott Ranch, Protea Hotel Amani Beach, Protea Hotel Mbweni Ruins, The Ritz-Carlton London, U.S. Postal Service Conference Center, Four Points by Sheraton Havana, The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Autograph Collection are not eligible. Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site. Not eligible on gift cards, gift certificates or any other similar cash equivalents. In Ebates website, it is worded as follow: Exclusions: Cash Back is available only on completed hotel stay. Cash Back is not available on airfare, car rentals, vacation packages, gift cards, rooms offered at specially negotiated rates, where the customer is required to be affiliated with or employed by a particular company or organization to receive the special rate (e.g., government rate or the Marriott employee rate) and rooms that are booked and paid for using Marriott Rewards Points. Cash Back is not available at the following brands: Ritz-Carlton Destination Club, Design Hotels, Bulgari, W Hotels; and at the following properties: Atlantis, Autograph Collection, Bulgari Hotel, London, Joshua G.E. Medical Corp. Conference Center, Jesse Jones Rotary Conference Center, Marriott Ranch, Protea Hotel Amani Beach, Protea Hotel Mbweni Ruins, The Ritz-Carlton London, U.S. Postal Service Conference Center, Four Points by Sheraton Havana, The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Autograph Collection. I made a booking on 15 Mar 2019 when AA had 10 miles per $ spent, for 7 nights at Prince Sakura Tower, Tokyo, an Autograph Collection hotel. The stay completed yesterday 01 May 2019. In my eshopping acount, under Store visits it shows this: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...44a7d0044d.jpg However, on the eshopping account, it's not listed under transactions tab. Does that mean its not eligible? I contacted CS 2 weeks ago to query this but their reply says it is excluded according to their Terms and Conditions, but website such as Ebates word it clearer to say what brands are excluded and which hotels specifically are excluded like Atlantis Autograph Collection. Does anyone have experience in this and know how I can respond to get the miles credited? |
Any recent experiences with getting the Marriott transactions to post correctly - and any sense on how long after the stay they show up?
My reservations (with order number and amount) are showing up under the Store Visits tab. But I have already completed the visits and even my Bonvoy points have posted to my Bonvoy account some time ago. And... assuming that these count towards Loyalty Points? Thank you. BCH |
