Best Tribute Portfolio hotel in the world -- what are your favorites?
Looks like I started somewhat of a trend with the W thread, but I'm curious to hear what the best of each brand is, even as we get into the lower-end ones.

I've only stayed at a few, and it can be somewhat hit or miss….but I think I have enough to nominate a favorite: The hôtel vagabond in Singapore. It's an absolutely wonderful tiny boutique hotel, filled with personality and art. The hotel tells the owner's story through pictures throughout, and she's always wandering the lounge to chat with guests and share her stories. Platinum treatment is great with breakfast and happy hour included, and the prices are beyond reasonable. The Tribute Portfolio hotel I frequent most often, however, is the SLS Las Vegas. Unfortunately, it's quite a dump… |
I've only stayed at a handful of these, but I do like the Great Northern Hotel in London. It meets a need I have for a moderately priced centrally located hotel in London which SPG can only sometimes meet with other hotels.

I've only stayed at the Yuluxe Sheshan, Shanghai and the Great Northern so far, but have a stay at the Vagabond Club for New Year's.
Despite its age, the Yuluxe was a great place to shack up away from Shanghai's lunacy. The grounds were spacious, the rooms were huge and their food was good. I'm sure some upgrading wouldn't do this hotel any harm, but as an independent property with an SPG affiliation, I have no complaints. The Great Northern is an absolute gem. I stayed there in December 2014 before it joined Tribute and was wowed by its design, sassy staff and their incredible food at Plum + Spilt Milk. Stayed again last year and was upgraded from a Couchette to Cubitt Room and once again had a flawless stay. If I recall correctly, I read an interview once where the hotel owner said he was waiting for a Starwood brand to slot his hotel into and the concept/idea of Tribute was the one he was waiting for, so they jumped on it. A fabulous addition to the brand, if I do say so, and definitely my favorite [for now... let's see what this Vagabond fuss is all about!]. khabah |
Another vote from me for the Great Northern in London.
Haven't stayed at any others. |
Not sure of the value of this thread, since the brand is so new, most folks here will have 1-2 stays only...
Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Auberge du Vin, Mendoza overlooking vineyards and the Andes. |

Only stayed at Royal Palm South Beach Miami and was excited to try a new brand-- and have never been to a Tribute again. Royal Palm might be the only Starwood trip (I wrote about it extensively on FT reviews of RP) that I just left a property upset and agog over how bad the property and service recovery is. Recent reviews show little change. Should be taken out of the system.

I'm not a fan of the Royal Palm either, even though I got an OK free Plat upgrade to what I think was a studio suite on a high floor with a side view of the ocean.
|
Everyone's got to vote for the Vagabond in Singapore surely. Lovely hotel with great Platinum treatment including daytime snacks and evening drinks in the lounge.
|
Only stayed at Royal Palm, for one night, and I had a pretty good stay TBH. Pesky resort fee, but those are common in SoBe.

We have only stayed at one- SLS Vegas and were not impressed
|
Just finished a stay at the Royal Palm (I have stayed a number of times before - not just under Starwood) and still really like the hotel. Check-in was far better than before; upgrade wasn't great (booked one night Classic and two nights Deluxe and ended up with 3 nights Deluxe) - however, there does seem to have been some light refurbishment of the rooms.
So, out of the 5 Tribute properties I've stayed at, the Royal Palm definitely wins. |
I have only stayed in 2, the Hermitage Jakarta and the Sthala Bali.
Very happy with Hermitage. Ok with Shatala but excpect more |

Indeed ;) My best, and only stay, was at the Hermitage.
Checked in earlier today, had time to check out the swimming pool area and rooftop bar until it started raining. Looking forward to breakfast tomorrow morning. Great stay so far! |
I also like the Great Northern Hotel. It's super convenient because it's located in between St. Pancras and King's Cross and many tube lines are right outside the door. It's also clean, new, and remodelled, and Platinums are upgraded to the best room category (no suites in the hotel) every time.
