Courtyard Reno Downtown/Riverfront - Nevada [Master Thread]

Hotel website:

http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...wn-riverfront/

Category 5.

"Located in the vibrant Downtown district, alongside the Truckee River, the Courtyard by Marriott Reno Downtown/Riverfront provides the best blend of downtown fun and natural beauty of Northern Nevada. We are within walking distance to Riverwalk District, the Greater Nevada Field which is home to the Reno Aces and the USL Reno 1868 FC, The Pioneer Center, Reno Events Center, National Bowling Stadium, The National Automobile Museum (the Harrah Collection) and Downtown Casinos. "

(Side note: There's a Renaissance Downtown Reno opening March '17).

I'm going to be staying in Reno every-other-week for the next year or so. I currently have this hotel booked for the first couple stays, but was wondering about the Renaissance as well. Does anybody have feedback on the preferred property? Rates don't seem too different.

Renaissance used to be the Siena hotel and casino. I like the Renaissance hotel over the CY any day. Plus during the summer the downtown/riverfront area will be vibrant and your close to the Freight House district which has great food and the Reno Aces.

I used to go to Reno often about fifteen years ago. After the recession hit, those trips abruptly stopped. We never stayed in Marriott properties, instead staying in the casino property hosting our event. My favorite was Johnny Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks. At the time, it was owned by the Ascuaga family and run by Mr. A and his adult daughter and son. Mr A would be seen on the floor all the time. They have since sold it. The casino was fun. The rooms were big and gaudy, and not the cleanest. The outstanding thing was the food. The meat was raised near the hotel and was extraordinary. Desserts were baked onsite and were phenomenal. Doughnuts were a specialty; light fluffy and wonderful. Their buffet may have been the best casino buffet in Nevada; not the fanciest but the best. On Thursday nights in the summer the Sparks Rodeo across the street was a fun street festival. Not only did I see Don Rickles perform there, but I ran into him in the hallway and we chatted for a few minutes...

The reason I bring this up is if you are looking for something to do one night while you are there, you may want to check the place out. I don't know if everything is still as good, but even if it's half as good it will surely still be great.

So you've stayed in this property? I'm just getting worried sine it gets bad reviews on a few different sites (mostly by the frequent business travelers. Poor lighting, lack of cleanliness, and no decent work space are the most common complaints.

Yeah I have stayed there and I found it to be a decent property. The rooms are pretty modern with a decent workspace. It's not like being in a Residence Inn suite but I was comfortable for my time there. Also on a side note where ever you stay go to Awful Awful for the best burger in the world. Not the one in Sparks but the one in downtown reno.
