I don't think there's a single taxi in the country of Peru with a meter. You always set the price before you even get in the car.

As far as a reputable taxi, look for the Kia's. I think they're called Taxi Metropolitan.

Absolutely great place... Gold Choice option offers free wifi, and they still gave me the free drink coupons... As a gold, got a club room on the 18th floor that was great.

Sparkling Wine in the club lounge and all sorts of snacks that were delicious. Breakfast of pancakes, french toast, bacon, and even sushi...

Shuttle to Miraflores was prompt and took around a half hour.

Loved the hotel, most Sheraton's could learn a lot from this place...

Sheraton Lima

Stayed at Sheraton Lima, the hotel has been around for a long time but it has been renovated. I am surprised the interior of the hotel is quite nice, the room also very nice as well. I did not expect much before my arrival because of it's a category 1 hotel, 3000 points for a weekend night, this is definitely a hidden gem. This hotel is very well situated if you like to visit the historical places around down town.

The only one thing is the shower drain very slow, apart from that I had a nice stay. Hotel staff are very friendly, club lounge has decent breakfast and snacks. Thanks SPG and Sheraton Lima!

Had a stay over New Years and it was great. The hotel offers a free shuttle in and out of Miraflores. I think it runs hourly. Having Real Plaza (the new mall) next door was really great. You can enter the outdoor mall by walking out the front door of the hotel and walking left, or going down to the bottom level and walking out the side of the hotel.

I believe I was given a Jr Suite, which was on the 11th floor. Club level is on the 18th and is open for breakfast and then at 3pm.

Lurked often on FT, had to comment on this thread.

I've stayed in the Sheraton Lima twice and the Westin Lima seven times. The Westin is in a different league. Whilst the Sheraton has had a decent refurb (except for the windows and the common areas which are mid-70's at best), the Westin Lima is one of best city center business hotels in Starwood period.

Compare the one bedroom or executive suites (for plats), the lounge, the pool, the hotel restaurant or the location and it's easily worth paying c. $100 per night more for the Westin.

Staff in both are decent, but in the Westin we're talking St Regis quality good.

If you get a cheap rate for the Sheraton (sub $185 or C&P) or if the Westin is $350+ then fair enough, but if otherwise why slum it when you've got one of the best in the group up the road?

The Sheraton isn't bad, but vs the Westin (or the Marriott as a second choice) IMHO it's not up to the impression this thread suggests.

Just completed my stay and review here!

Overall this isn't such a bad hotel. It's incredibly cheap with $73/night and it offers the full range of services for Starwood VIPs. It's about 20 minutes (without traffic) from Lima airport and a good place for a short Lima stay. Just note that the immediate neighborhood does not have much to offer - taxis are cheap and traffic is bearable in Lima so it isn't a big deal to stay somewhere else. Just try to be extra patient at check-in :)

I agree. It's an undervalued SPG property: cheap, close to downtown (I used it for a night between flights with ease), good treatment gold and platinum members, decent breakfast.

Had a 1 night stay here a few days ago. Location is interesting for visitors, and for those looking to increase stay credit, it might be worth spending 1 night here, and then moving on to FP Miraflores or the Westin. I booked a bit last minute and rates here were U$200, and U$275 at the Westin, so used C&P at 2,000 + U$35.

Location is fine for tourists, as it enables you to cover a lot of downtown Lima, whilst being convenient also for the Water Show nearby. The hotel is extremely popular with flight crews, and japanese tour groups. There is an open air shopping mall directly under the hotel, with international chain restaurants, supermarket, etc which is very convenient. Plenty of taxis outside the hotel.

Hotel is very 80s retro, but well maintained.

No upgrade at check in (did not care as we were not planning to spend a lot of time in the room), but received a room on 18th floor, right next to Club Lounge. Room is a little dated, mouldy carpet smell throughout room and corridors. Comfy bed. Shower is dark and dingy.

Evening snacks on the Lounge were good, but drinks situation is a little confusing (no soft drinks on display, sign saying liquors are available for purchase). Did not hang around as temperature in the lounge was far above tolerable.

Breakfast in the main restaurant was the star of the show. Huge spread, including dishes like lomo saltado, pork chicharron, asian entrees, etc. Breakfast served till 10:30AM. Also received welcome drink vouchers, which we used for Pisco Sours (other options were tea/coffee or soft drinks) at the Kero Bar, which were ok.

Booked for one night in April for 3,000 points. Regular rates started at $228/night.
Does this hotel offer an airport shuttle? I could not find information about it.

I think not. A taxi to airport is roughy 15-20, if memory serves me correctly.

No, only a shuttle service to Miraflores (Larcomar Mall) every 2hrs each way. The hotel will charge you U$25 to/from airport, but you can negotiate with local cabs for perhaps 30-40 soles. Anything less you'd have to preorder a taxi (remis) which would require substantial local knowledge.

Stayed here on way to MP two weeks ago.
Airport transfer was 100 soles arranged through hotel. (Late arrival. Spouse has low tolerance for unknowns at night)
Nice facility. Booked on pre-devaluation C & P
Great breakfast in lounge.
Booked 3 rooms for family traveling with me.
All rooms on club floor. My brother was able to enjoy the lounge in the evening and was generally happy with the service in lounge.
He had some service issues in bar downstairs later that night.
Overall, I was happy with the short stay.
May stay longer next time. Booked FP Miraflores on back end of trip.
Mall does have a small market next door that was convenient for a lost toiletry bag in transit.

I loved this hotel - stayed twice in January and both stays I got upgraded to junior suite. Breakfast was also served on fine china which is great. And it was definitely undervalued.
And points stay at this hotel on weekend are great value. Either 2k plus $35 or 3k... After platinum 500 welcome back, it costs even less...

Maybe I frown when I should smile

I have stayed at this property 4 times over the past three years, once as gold and three times as platinum, and I have yet to be upgraded.

The complimentary breakfast spread in the SPG lounge is still excellent.
