Previously I was all-set for the Marriott Whitefield as this was a stone-throw to the office of our company I was working with, but since this office moved to Electronics City the Whitefield location is probably no longer the right one.
Looking at my options I found the JW to be about an hour's ride away from where I need to go, and nothing else (Marriott-/SPG-wise) really closer...so would this be the logical choice, or would you suggest a different property in Bangalore when working in Electronics City? Thanks for your suggestion! Greetings - Dirk |
Had a week long stay at the JW Bengaluru last week. the location is phenomenal for the purposes of being able to walk around at night to shopping and restaurants at UB city next door. If your office is not around the area, the commute can be horrible. Upon arrival into the “compound”, standard security checks. Lots of employees working the front and no lines at the checkin. Upgraded to an executive level Cubbon Park view room. No suites available for a long stay and none were showing online. Room is large and spacious with day bed and hardwood floors. Bathroom has separate shower and bath. Standard JW amenities. Club lounge on the 14th served afternoon tea (forgettable) and cocktails and happy hour (fairly decent). Breakfast is served in the JW Kitchen downstairs. I do have to say even though they ask for your room number upon lounge entry, everyone and their posse gets in. It appears to be a formality than anything. I see groups of family members and kids just strolling in and can get crowded and loud at times. It appears that the staff are intimidated by guests and want to please. The pool here is pretty solid and long enough for laps although very shallow throughout. Depending on when you go it can be a day care there. What’s nice about this pool compared to other pools in Bangalore (or India for that matter) is that it’s not infested with pigeons. The gym is large with lots of machines and separate room for weights. Day spa appears to be busy throughout my stay. Prices appears reasonable. There are multiple restaurants at the JW. Only tried the JW Kitchen and the Italian restaurant. There is also a brewery onsite. For the most part, the breakfast is amazing with lots of choices and live kitchen. The lunch and dinner buffets were good as well but after a week of local cuisine (here and elsewhere), all tastes the same. The Italian place is pretty decent. Definitely a return when in Bangalore but will venture out and try some other properties close by like the Ritz and the ITC Gardenia just for comparison. Lounge sheet for those that are interested. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...66a204954.jpeg |
What are the transportation options to get to/from the airport? Uber, taxi, hotel car? 1st time in Bangalore next week.

ITC Gardenia is a nicer property but the rooms, lounge and breakfast is much nicer at JW Marriott.
Also, Gardenia is pretty open layout so mosquitoes can be bit of a problem (even though they have daily treatment). There will be fewer bugs in winter but they won't be gone altogether. Just something to consider.... |
