Stayed at the Ren in March on a visa run...6 nights... club was pretty good...had corner room, harbour view...no balcony, but windows can be opened to let in some fresh air...I think the winter olympics had just concluded, so when booking prices were almost exactly the same...there was a great Cobb salad on the RS menu...

Coupon codes for Vancouver Marriotts??

I'll be returning to Vancouver, BC 6/6-8 and looks like hotel prices are through the roof at this time (near double what I am paying this week). Anyone know any coupon discount codes for either the Renaissance Harbor or Marriott Pinnacle downtown??

SkiAdcock Apr 18, 2011 8:05 pm

You can try the publicly available codes in the sticky in this forum. That's your best bet.

Cheers.

The public codes were my first resort, but I didn't have any luck with those. I was hoping that someone might know of a corporate code that they might be able to share. I know some companies will work with individual hotels for a significant discount, but this is peak season in Vancouver and good rates are going to be tough to come by.

Well some folk might know corp codes because they work for the corps, but I'm not sure why you're expecting them to share them w/ you. They don't know you. Peak season in any region sucks, so I wish you the best. I'm facing the same situation myself in some stays later in the year, including in Vancouver.

Cheers.

Sharon,

I didn't mean any disrespect or having any expectations with this request. It was just a request and worth a shot. I've been traveling for a living for 10 years and understand that some times things just cost what they cost. Best example is trying to get a hotel in Boston during graduation season (not pretty). This is probably another case and I'll probably end up sucking it up and paying the increased cost, which is ok. Just wanted to use all the resources that were available to me by pooling the board to see if there was anything else available.

I appreciate your response on willingness to help. My intent was only to pool the vast knowledge of frequent travelers on this board to see if they may have any suggestions that I may not be aware of.

Thanks again and safe travels.

I believe the point Sharon was trying to make is "would it be ethical" to attempt to use a discount you weren't eligible for? While you might not be asked for ID you just as easily might and if you aren't able to produce such you'll most likely end up with the rate of the day....but again I do believe her main issue was "it's up to ones own morals and sense of right/wrong"

Fair enough. And I do feel your pain. I've got a stay coming up that also coincides with some trade show that I'm not attending. Guess what the hotel rates are  Good luck!

BTW - as long as you're thinking of dif avenues, what some folk have done is split up their stays into individual nights because sometimes the rates are less for one night than the others and/or you can piece together a stay either that way or using codes on individual nights that might work that don't work when the overall stay dates are put in. Hope that makes sense.

Cheers.

Thanks Sharon. That is a great idea and I'll give it a shot if I run into this again. Fortunately, I had some luck with this last night. I'm currently staying at the Marriott in Vancouver and had luck just by going downstairs and talking with the reservations manager. They were able to discount me $50/night since they had just recently changed the rates and I had a high status with them.

Any recent experiences at these properties?

I was told that the Renaissance Harbourside offers free breakfast coupons for Platinums on weekend but the Marriott Pinnacle does not offer anything on weekends - is that still the case?

Any recent info? I'm trying to decide between these two locations. BTW I'm Platinum and will be with my family (of 4 with 2 preteens). Looks like Ren has better swimming pool which is a plus for us.

Thanks in advance.

You can't go wrong either... Both great, but I favor Marriott over Ren for location and the staff at the Marriott is consistently nice... But maybe it's just Canada!

Hosserunda May 3, 2012 10:47 pm

Renaissance didn't have a lounge when I was there last fall. But they gave me free breakfast as Gold in the restaurant which was fantastic, especially with the view from the restaurant over the water to the mountains.
