Can anyone confirm if having multiple Ally spending accounts means we get 5 loads per spending account? Or is it 5 loads per Ally relationship?

I opened an Ally Spending Account this morning. I have been with Ally for a number of years, so am not new to the bank. I then went to the WM MC this evening to load $999 to the account, enabled location services in the app, gave the associate my phone number and DL, and answered the questions on the screen. A message popped up on the associates screen indicating they they should notify the customer that they can not load my account, and to not engage in any further conversation (something like that). I asked to cancel the transaction and then just purchased a MO with the same phone #--no issues.
Any ideas? |
I assume it is fee free when loading your account to Ally just like it is for Discover?

Any ideas? The workaround with MOs at least was to just start a new acct under another random # but this appears to be tied to your DL. So you'll need to go and use a passport as ID, then only show the DL for address verification. Makes this method of loading a slow PITA compared to Discover / ONE. Btw, I think loading from putting the card into the machine also works, and bypasses ID step, but then there's a fee. $3 or $4 |

Yes WM has you blocked, probably since the days when you were buying a lot of MOs.

Drats! I appreciate the insight. I'm using the same phone number and DL as I use to purchase MO's. I'm now thinking that WM has a subsystem, or Ally uses a processor that was used when they shut down my BB account years ago.

I don't think it's Ally related but who knows. What worked for me is using a different phone # acct than the one that's blocked and passport on top of that.

Barcode not working the first time often
Anyone finding the barcode not working the first time often? Sometimes I create a new barcode and the associate says 'unable to load that amount' or something similar. Then I close and reopen the app, create a new barcode, and it works. The barcode wasn’t expired either. A few times I even had to do it twice. For some reason my network inside Walmart is always really poor, so maybe that’s part of it? |
Is this still working for loading cash to Ally spending account at WM?
