If you get one of the increasingly common cards where the card printer was out of ink or whatever is going on with the faded and barely visible numbers on some cards, you can make a small transaction, such as one banana, and the receipt will show the last 4 digits of the card which is the pin.

I had a card that I tried like 6 times at register. Failed every time. Finally it succeeded on the 7th try. I figure the magnetic strip must be bad. That is a different situation from this though.
