For me, the cost of the fuel was very relevant. It could be $.20 off p/gal., $.40 off, or higher depending on what my DD's fuel point balance was at the pump at Kroger. That's why I also used my CCs to buy large retail chain GCs that did provide 2x points (no 4x promotion at the time). Sometimes those points reduced the cost per gallon to as low as $3.09. If my DD needed the lower cost per gallon fillup with her driving to/from jobs on the weekends, I just took the $.03 off per gallon and got what I needed when I was returning the rental car. Perhaps the region was different as I was never offered $1 off per gallon. Competition isn't the same there as in a large metropolis. I will delete my gas cost comment so as not to further the off topic conversation here anyway. |

Does it say 1 per customer or per transaction on the terms of the coupon? In that case, it will be slightly tough to convince the cashier.. Never tried coupons on self checkout kiosk..

Doesn't say anything about 1 per customer or per transaction. The only requirement I can see is "Your total shopping order must exceed the amount you are redeeming." I assume this means my order has to be >$5 if redeeming one >$10 redeeming two etc.

Oh, well, that's not the experience I had on my trip.

In reality, if you have enough fuel points to use 1000 every time you fill up, the points actually become slightly less valuable with a higher price of gas, since you are likely to drive less due to the law of demand and therefore buy fewer gallons that you're saving $1.00 on, although if you would have paid for that extra $1 with Ye Olde Amex Blue, you're really only saving 95 cents. I don't think that discussing the value of fuel points is too off topic for this thread, considering you earn them for purchasing the fixed value V/MC GC that you buy for the promotion this thread is about - 4x, in fact. This deal is a lot better for those who have the ability to use large amounts of points, via filling up multiple cars to do 35 gallons and/or people who drive a lot. |
Just bought 2 $100 MCs at Fry's. $5 coupon didn't print. Is this a Catalina like the Vons deal? 838 fuel points were earned this transaction, however, so it wasn't a total loss.
Is the $5 coupon regional maybe? |

Thank you! I just got a few new credit cards and stumbled across here doing some research. Very informative posts and information in this forum :)
I travel to a particular Kroger city about four times a year. There are a lot of coupon blogs about Kroger but they are inundated with questions, complaints. I like concise info (like the start of this thread). Thanks. :) |

Coupons are not stacking.. Its not unique.. Same digits printed on every coupon.. So wouldn't stack... Another reason to pass if you are looking to go big I guess...

Well, I have enough fuel points for the rest of this month and next month so I went back to buying variables, and I just bought 4 variables (that was all I bought) and to my surprise a $5 off future purchase coupon printed out. This was in the DFW area. Since Wednesday I had purchased up to two variables at a time and did not get the coupon. Will probably try four again tomorrow to see if it prints another coupon.

NICE Find!!! ^

Same here (bought 4 variable Visa). Didn't try the variable MC.

Why not break up your purchases into multiple orders and use multiple $5 coupons?

Is this is even valid for GCs besides V/MC? I've got a wedding I have to go to so I'll have a use for various store branded gift cards.

Kroger fuel points value is decreasing as the gas price goes up. There are many ways to get gas cards for 20% off, which will eventually be better than getting $1 off per gallon.

Unless the gas price goes up to $5/gal, the $1/gal off coupon is still better than 20% GC

Not sure what TAWS is referring to on this one... |

How about getting kroger gift cards for 20% off and using them for gas with the $1 off per gallon...is that possible? Now that would be interesting!

I bought 2x$500 VGCs and the $5 printed. No fuel points.
It is good for our Bank of A cards that earn bonus on grocery. I guess it helps the blue cash cards too...preferred or the old blue. |
Actually bought 2 $500 VGC and got the $5 Coupon in the DFW Area. Had no clue why I got it.
Bought another $1000 GC and got that coupon again - I though this might be a benefit of shopping more than $1000 I guess now I know. Need to buy quite a few before 4/22

VGC do qualify - I have bought 2 $500 VGC for a total of $1000 twice and have received the $5off each time

Variable Cards do not qualify. I tried them this morning and then read the terms and they don't qualify according to the flyer in the store.
On another note I have done 2 other transactions with 2x $100 Visa GC with the same shopper card at the same location and received a $5 off next purchase coupon each time. A question I have is will I be able to use both these $5 off coupons on one transaction? Or will I have to split the 2 coupons up over 2 transactions? Thanks for any help. |

It is difficult to find Kroger GC at non-Kroger stores

Offer ended yesterday?

The sign says it excludes variable load gift cards, but as reported here recently, they do work. |
yeah, it's thru the 22nd- dies the same day as the Safeway $10 coupon for buying a MC GC. :(
for only a $5 coupon, this is REALLY being hit hard in IAH. many stores completely cleaned out of the 20-500 variable VGC. last time kroger ran a promo it was a better deal than this and supply of cards was zero issue. perhaps this shows the aftermath of VR's death @ cvs, as this is a 30% savings vs VGC's @ cvs. |

In the Seattle area, no coupon at Fred Meyer (tried twice). Still had success at QFC.

Just squeeked in on this one Saturday. My ride from airport was late, hung out at the USO (very nice), found out my bag had not made it and needed to hang around the area because my bag was inbound on next flight. After being picked up, swung into the K.
Bought the two GCs and got the catalina. :) |
Billpay at Kroger
Overheard something about "new billpay" terminals while paying a WU bill at my local Kroger. Apparently CheckFreePay is coming. It's not yet live at my store but they have new terminals to accommodate. I was told they will be rolling this out to the larger stores. No idea if the payees or fees will be the same as WM, but they said Visa/MC was on the payee list.

Thanks for the info. I wish I had more of these (only have Harris Teeter) near me.
|
It is in my store but check and cash only
|
Well, why would I need billpay if I were just going to write a check? haha But an interesting lead.
If you really needed to cycle money around, maybe you could get a money order at Kroger to pay for Kroger's billpay. If that wouldn't make them think you're weird ... |

Bought some variable MC's this morning and got a printout stating that the $5 off next shopping order coupon with purchase of 2 or more MC or V cards is coming back. Dates for the DFW area are July 2nd - July 15th.
