Flight Changes - Options?
My sister has had a flight cancellation/change notice and am seeking advice please.
In October she is flying LHR to SYD via KUL, originally MH1 and MH123. MH123 has now been cancelled and she has been changed to MH141 which means an overnight 16 hour layover. Obviously this is far from ideal so what are her options, would MH allow her to perhaps change MH1 or to a different day? We've not dealt with MH before so not sure on their flexibility so she wants to make sure she knows what she should expect when she calls them. If they don't allow changes and she's stuck with this would they provide a hotel for the overnight? She's travelling in business if that makes any difference, no status. Thanks in advance! |
You can ask to be rebooked to a different flight with a better connection, even on a different date. They will not provide a hotel stay.

IME early this year, MH is quite flexible when they cancel or if there's a schedule change/delay. You can rebook to any flights +- a few days without worrying about fare difference or your original booking class availability.

Just don't expect your money back if there's no acceptable alternative :p

Thanks all, much appreciated.
Yeah, don't mention refund, this is a booking made with a voucher and is costing almost twice as much as the original 2020 booking  |
Hi, The same has happened to me this week for a trip to Adelaide in October. There was no issue changing my outbound flight from LHR to one that connected better to my new KUL - ADL. There was no additional charge either.
It appears they are cutting their frequency to Australian destinations, is this likely to be so they can use the aircraft on different routes? |
