Airport Upgrade HKT/KUL
Just wondering if anyone has a recent price for an Airport upgrade on this route? I cannot bid before hand as my reward ticket is not eligible! The cabin is showing empty at the moment! Also I assume MH offer fastrack immigration at KUL for business passengers? Thanks

Not so sure MH offers upgrade at the airport! Yes KUL has fast track immigration lines for J passengers, but not air side between domestic and international gates! Only so for transferring from/to land side.

MH does offer last minute upgrade at the airport but I dont have any pricing data for HKT. However as a data point for BKK departures back in early Q4-2018, the upgrade price was THB3400 which seems to be the same for all flights out of BKK (although departures out of KUL have various pricing based on time and day of the flight)

If useful, I can confirm that MH offers airport upgrades at checkin @HKT. Do not know the cost (I was already ticketed in J) but there was signage at checkin. There is also a fast track departure service.

OP has an award ticket, possibly purchased with BA Avios. Does MH do cash upgrades on award tickets, including "free" tickets purchased with miles from a partner (and therefore on partner ticket stock)?

I would estimate the upgrade price to be RM320 +/- per way.
I haven't observed any attractive last min upgrade prices, also was flying MH J from HKT and recalled they have someone to escort you all the way from check in counter to the priority immigration desk back in Sept last year.

As an update to others! I’ve just checked in for my flight from HKT Back to KUL And I wasn’t able to pay for upgrade because it was a BA Avios reward flight! Upgrades were available for 2000Baht!! Pity!! But that’s there rules!!

Ok; thank you for reporting back. Not surprising as this was an award ticket and also issued by another carrier. No carrier is going to touch award tickets issued by other carriers if they can avoid it.
Why would you even bother to upgrade for such a short flight? IMO a waste of money. As you probably already found out there is usually no line (or at least very short lines) for security checks and immigration at HKT. Yeah, the J seats on MH are better but again a very short flight. On my last HKT-KUL flight with MH I found the seat and the service to be quite good in Y.
