The SS Con Dao has wind that was so strong our villa would shake at night like an earthquake. It was insane. We were there 5 days and were not allowed in the water any of the 5 due to rough seas. We enjoyed our villa pool, but the overcast skies kept us from being able to enjoy it much.
The food was great (surprisingly).

The villa was very poorly lit (my wife wanted to spend as little time in it as possible because it felt like a cave).
Compared to the Azerai, it is a distant second. Azerai’s clean lines, perfect layout, and great service beat the SS hands down.

VIVID in Sydney is not to be missed at that time of year. We stayed at the Park Hyatt, which was right in the middle of many, many light installations, including projections onto the opera house. It does get crowded around there on the weekend days.

How about that hotel just outside Rome that you started a thread about last year ?

Or have you already stayed there ?
If so how was it ? Would you recommend ?

I was at the Grand Hotel Majestic in Bologna last year. It is very old school luxury on a busy main street which is pedestrianised at the weekend. The decor is highly ornate and rooms are small and overly cluttered. We had a junior suite facing the massive church across the road and we spent much of the time clambering over the furniture. A very pleasing modern bathroom. Front desk service was excellent. Breakfast was disappointing as the room is far too small so it's best to go out and find breakfast at one of the many cafes. Food at dinner was good but the elaborate dining room was devoid of customers and a bit of a mausoleum.

I'm glad to see people booking the Ca'Sagredo in Venice - we loved that place when we stayed in January two years ago.

Thanks for this short review. I didnīt see any real alternative in this region. While prices are not cheap (950,00 € p.n. for a Junior Suite) I found a pretty good deal.

Caī Sagredo looks regarding the hard product stunning. Will be interesting to compare it to the Aman. The price difference is huge.

Lets see what sticks, but for now:
January: St Regis Deer Valley
February: Paris - Shangri-la has a 3-for-2 special so will likely end up there now
March: W Scottsdale (not really luxury), TBD in NYC
May: Mayfair hotel in London
July: Villa d'este (should I switch to the new Mandarin Oriental?) and Cala di Volpe
August: FS Bogota
October: Belmond Charleston
November: Amanpulo, Sofitel Hanoi
December: TBD in SE Asia (thank you CF X mistake fare)
