Swiss merger with Lufthansa master thread
I have set up this master thread to try to have an easy reference for questions on Swiss (LX) acquisition (insert merger or other euphamism here!), including impacts on airline and Miles and More. I will also attempt to link in relevant threads on the LX forum.

Tranferring AMEX points to LX
I still have tons of AMEX points but after changing companies, I'll no longer have a Corporate AMEX and won't add any points to my account. So it's now about spending them. As LH SEN with plenty of points there and a couple of LX points, I thought about transferring the AMEX points to LX. Can those be now already used on LH flights and does anybody have an idea, when and at what "exchange rate" the two programs will be merged?

Since prices for LH awards in STC are the same as in M & M, I consider the exchange rate Amex-LH 1:1 as well. They are valid for three years on STC. Either they merge the two programs, which is rather probable, then you can add your Swiss miles into your M & M account, or you can use them for LH awards directly out of STC. Only disadvantage at this moment: No companion discount on Swiss AFAIK. |
Passenger_by_Passion what Amex are you using? Checking the Swiss Amexco Page the stated conversion is 2 Membership Rewards Points = 1 STC Mile
http://www.americanexpress.ch/d/pers...ravelclub.html Prices for LH awards are different in STC i.e. if you want a LH reward the usual STC points are required which are higher than the M&M points required. A free Ticket in C to US costs 105'000 STC miles be it with LX or LH Metal. As far as I remember LH M&M charges less points to USA (I'm not in M&M though but from what I read). |
I'm flying FRA-ZRH-ORD on an LX award with ZRH-ORD in F. Now my question: will I have access to the F lounge/terminal in FRA? Is it worth a try and would they drive me to a LX plane also... :)

Thanks for consolidating the information.
Just a small remark, but it is not a merger, as far as I understand. It is an acquisition (even though they keep calling it a "merger"). |

Can you all now place bets regarding the future of STC and the airline?:D |
Ralf, enjoy the trip!
At this time, I don't think you'd be that lucky. But you can always try, right! In fall, or spring 06, you might have more luck. When is our trip? |
