2015 M&M Status Requalification Race

A bit early, however inspired by HON routing thread.
I will end up with ca 89 000 status points after August, thus I will manage till the end of 2015. Again. Inevitably.
What about you?

econprof Jun 14, 2015 8:54 am

Ha! I've crossed the Atlantic 12 times so far this year (that is, 6 round trips). And all I have is a lousy 28,000 status miles. Usually I'd be more than halfway requalification by this point, but the mileage devaluation has hit me hard.

Highly unlikely I'll requalify this year. I'll have one more year to accrue enough miles, but I doubt next year will be the charm, either.

Mbcan Jun 15, 2015 3:44 am

Less and less miles for flying on LH, so I although it is my second qualifying year, I have at the moment only 9.000 status miles on my account. Most of miles go to A3, I plan to get gold there by February 2016…

more4less Jun 15, 2015 4:52 am

Less than 5000 status miles up to now. Most likely I will end up the year with less than 20.000.
I am not sure if next year I will bother with the 100.000 to re-qualify.

GBM.flights Jun 15, 2015 5:14 am

My Silver ends Feb'16.
As it looks I'll finish the year with 250 miles credited to M&M. 2 TP flights that had no better home.
And I have no regrets of letting Silver go.

Concerto Jun 15, 2015 5:36 am

I will also end up somewhere just short of 20,000, but I always requalify for FTL on segments which is enough for me. Then I can concentrate my efforts elsewhere! So if I requalify for FTL sometime this year, I will have it until March 2018, right?

europeanflyer Jun 16, 2015 10:19 am

I will make it by end of July in my 1st re-qualify year so takes me through to end of 2018.
Was lucky with a trip down to NZ in Jan on SQ with their new biz promotional booking out of IST which earned 200% & got me nearly half way there. Where I live & the routes taken no other alternative apart from A3 but missed that gig last year & now to start from the beginning does not make sense to give up luggage/ lounge/EE seat etc.

I'm in a very similar predicament on this one - since I only fly cheapo domestic or short-haul, the 30 segment rule is the only way for me to re-qualify!

What I don't yet understand is whether the 30 segment rule applies to the two-year (re-)qualifying period or not.

In other words to address your question - if you have a requalifying period that embraces the years 2014/2015 and you achieved the 30 segments in 2015, then I am assuming that you will have FTL status for a further two years, i.e until end 2017 (and card/status up until end Feb 2018).

I, on the other hand, have a requalification period 2015/2016 - if I do 30 segments in 2015 am I safe until end Feb 2019?

Would appreciate feedback from any better-informed FT members!

Assuming that your card's expiry date is end of February 2017, doing 30 segments in 2015 will extend your FTL status till the end of February 2019. The expiry date on your online account will not change until around November 2016 when you receive your new card.

Thanks for this NewbieRunner (and also on your comment to my early posting regarding FRA A->B transfers on another thread - felt very chuffed to have received such praise from such a senior member!)

GRUflyer Jun 16, 2015 1:15 pm

I am done at 120K all flown on SQ metal.

In Brazil to Europe market, BA/IB has been agressive in pricing, and AF with its new C Class at GRU.

LH/LX are the odd ones. Mostly relying on European inbound traffic I think.

l22barne Jun 16, 2015 8:00 pm

almost there

99578 miles by end of June - looks like extension until 2/19 can be ticked off.
And plenty of time left to look after other alliance's status :p.

NA-Flyer Jun 17, 2015 8:01 am

On the contrary to what previous posters have posted, my travel level on LH has increased sharply since the beginning of this year.

A mix of extensive travel to the Far East in D class and a sharp decrease of travel volume on BA made me hit 212k HON miles in less than 6 months period.

I am very happy with LH as I got a satisfactory number of opups from D to F on many of my trips this year and on two occasions I got an opup on the same continous journey: ORD-FRA-HKG

Tim2008 Jun 17, 2015 8:21 am

Travel on LH increased significantly after some BA schedule changes.
So far at 444k Status miles this year. As I just took a couple of LH trips last year still about 60k miles left till HON

flyingchris Jun 18, 2015 8:54 am

just requalified for Silver with 30 segments and only little above 13.000 status miles :-( until Feb.2019

EC145T2 Jun 19, 2015 8:42 am

Gonna have my first FTL qualification soon with little more than 6000 status miles.... Most of the time European flights booked in K. The only legs which bring more status miles are 4U operated flights booked as OS codeshare.

UKBADGER Jul 4, 2015 3:42 pm

I got FTL status last year quite quickly and requalified for this in May so have status to 02/17 I think. Will make SEN by the end of July and will have 130k status miles by the end of the year. Always flown in C or D from Spain to London/Milan/Amsterdam/Istanbul/Paris/Brussels via Zurich or Frankfurt/Munich so earn 10,000 a return trip so has been quite easy.
When I get SEN and not re qualify do you get a soft landing to FTL or not?

Keep cool, you can requalify either in 2016 or in 2017. So lots of time...
However if you don't, you get softlanding to FTL.

htb Jul 5, 2015 1:50 pm

0 status miles on M&M so far. I'm planning on ending this year with 0 status miles. I'll be Gold on UA in a few weeks and maybe Platinum by the end of the year.

HTB.

If you qualified as FTL for the first time in 2014 and already requalified this year, you are FTL until the end of February 2019. If you qualify as SEN this year your status will be valid until the end February 2018. Even if you don't fly at all or credit miles to your M&M account you will be FTL until the end of Febuary 2020!

according to the miles and more site the following airline partners are participating in the Silver Promotion 2015:

Adria Airways
Germanwings
Air Dolomiti
LOT Polish Airlines
Austrian Airlines
Lufthansa
Brussels Airlines
Luxair
Croatia Airlines
SWISS

I see no mention of Eurowings (ex-4U flights). Do you think this is an oversight or a deliberate omission?

Good news. This has now been updated to "Germanwings/Eurowings".

At exactly 72001 status miles today :)

This year has been full of crazy travel so far, thanks to my new position at work. Two things stood out so far compared to 2013:

- Y earnings are frigging low now, both on regional as well as long haul. My leisure travel earns nearly nothing regional and I pay 200-300 more on longhaul to get 100% miles (and upgrades with UA GPUs)
- C earnings are now more or less in P for work travel in longhaul. Since my company is on 'best buy' I can find alternatives to fly direct on LH for almost the same as DL or AY but it ends up in P. The only highlight is CA Z earning 200% :p

2015 M&M Status Requalification Race

207k HON miles so far this year.
100k more to come alone during this month.
HON requali till end 2016 on a good way.

Thanks to Germanwings already enough HON Circle miles to requalify.

Rose9875 Aug 9, 2015 1:31 pm

210k HON in 2015 (about 255k status miles)...To get the 490k missing miles for HON renewal by 2016 sounds reasonable...

I do not know how your math works but in my school 210+490=700, so you miss "only" 390k :)

Redhat72 Nov 1, 2015 1:24 am

Qualified to SENATOR status today.

I have to say that pretty impressed with M&M miles credit. Last two trips, my miles showed up on my account within 2 days of travel.

NewbieRunner Nov 1, 2015 12:38 pm

I should pass 100k status miles to renew my SEN status until February 2019 somewhere over Nebraska on a UA flight this afternoon. Since the miles from my last two UA flights have not yet posted I may not see the magic number appear in my account until after miles post from two LH flights tomorrow.

I stand corrected. Very likely spending way too much time on planes, jet lag combined with lack of oxygene degrading my math skills...

oliver2002 Nov 2, 2015 9:13 am

Thanks to two invol reroutes it looks like I will be 2500ish miles over the 100k this year. :D

Why!!?? I consider M&M these days a competitive program in terms of benefits and redemption possibilities even when you compare it with BAEC.

With the current UFO strike, a lot of us should expect couple of thousands of bonus HON miles into our accounts before the end of the year as a gesture of good will from LH management ;)

Are these status miles or only award miles?
