New SEN lounge FRA B-pier
I just receive an e-mail that they will open the new SEN lounge at FRA B area on July 5. Have not been to this area since Nov last year so I wonder if it will be on the same place as the previous SEN lounge, or is it moved? Also, any chance that it will be open already July 4 since I will be in the B area then?

According to this post by hch it is a new lounge in B-East where the FCL is in B-West. Presumably it will be close to/above(?) B42.
Please report back if you find anything. |

I guess you are correct but the OP is hoping that on the 5th there is an official opening but a few days before is already in operation. If it was in Spain or Italy, I would not even count on the 5th, but being Germany is a different story. |

If I understand correctly, the major complaint about allowing *G in the SEN lounge is that it causes overcrowding. A new SEN lounge with seating for 300 passengers would seem to alleviate that problem. That would leave the only justification for such a desire to be pure elitism rather than a practical concern.
I have no problem with *G entering in the SEN lounges, but already now it is difficult to find seats at certain times of the day. With the new round of status match M&M is doing, this will be even more difficult. Also kindly note that the new members will be SEN, so they would be allowed in this hypothetical "only SEN" lounge. For me the lounges can even allow blue M&M/*basic, as far as there is enough place for everybody. |

But joking aside how do we know a 300-seat lounge will solve the overcrowding problem? Some people have given up going to SEN lounges (in B especially) and going to Business lounges instead. The SEN lounge in A is also overcrowded and some people may come the new B lounge instead. LH is unusual in providing separate lounges for Business pax and Senators/*G. Why should people who pay to fly on LH C be treated less favourably than *G many of whom don't even fly on LH? And some LH Business lounges are nicer than a few *G lounges I've seen. I don't think there's anything wrong with airlines treating their own status pax more favourably and pax who fly in their premium class for that matter. |

I never quite got the distinction. E.g. in BOS both the SEN and C side had absolutely the same interior and food. In German outstations the food on the SEN side seems to be a bit better in gernal, but e.g. the Tower Lounge in Frankfurt shows that combined lounges work. Having just one kind of lounges below the FCL would certainly help balance people to wards the closer and/or less crowded lounge.
Personally, I find the tower lounge to be below the level of the JFK SEN lounge, for example. |
