I recommend the inside. :D

I usually prefer the left-facing windows.

But it depends on the approach.

Most of the time, I am flying down from San Jose, so the aircraft seems to fly over the Santa Monica Mountains, turn right, then it makes a left-sided U-Turn.

Eventually, out of the left-hand windows, you can see, and follow along Wilshire Blvd. from the 405 freeway (where the Sepulveda Pass and Getty Center are visible) through UCLA, Century City, West Hollywood, the Miracle Mile district, Hollywood then downtown LA including the convention center and Staples.

Then the aircraft takes a right-sided U-Turn after Union Station/1 Gateway Plaza over the Alemeda Corridor and starts to fly over Inglewood where you can see the I-105 approach the 405. By that point, you're just a few minutes away from the airport and you'll be touching down right after flying over the rent-a-car parking lots.

I'd sit on the right as others have said.

You landed at Hollywood park? Must be those charter gambling flights! :p

So I took your collective advice, got some terrific pictures. Las Vegas was obscured by clouds, alas, but some great landscape shots and the shots of LA came out ok, given the smog. Also got a shot of Minneapolis on approach from DTW.

And I got upgraded to FC beforehand. :D ^

Thanks, all!

And on 4th of July evenings,

after dark you'll see absolutely FABulous fireworks displays, both landside and oceanside if you have a view out a window on either side of the plane. If there are clouds below you, they'll even ADD to the spookiness...

In the spring, smog won't be a problem; hopefully you won't encounter the twin banes of L.A. aerial viewing: "Onshore Flow" and the "Marine Layer" , in which cases the areas near the coast are draped in a layer of fog/clouds.

Sorry— just learning this Site!🤣 Meant to comment/Respond... “Put Phone in *Airplane Mode*”— NOT “Turned Off”...😉 & Airplane Mode doesn’t affect your Camera/Pics! 😎
