Problems with LATAM seat selection
We booked on Delta SMF-LAX-LIM-CUZ, and were able to select seats on the two LATAM segments by using the LATAM confirmation number on the LATAM website. Then, Delta changed their schedule, and we were reaccommodated via ATL. I tried going to the LATAM website to get seats on the two new segments (ATL-LIM and LIM-CUZ), but that won’t work now—there’s an error message suggesting to try again later.
So, I call LATAM, and the agent says I will not be able to get seats until 48 hours before the flight, but that I shouldn’t worry—that we will be assigned appropriate seats (we had paid extra for exit rows on the original overnight segment LAX-LIM). Does this advice sound correct? |
Solution found
I figured out the problem through HUACA. A more helpful agent said that as I had reserved extra-charge seats on 2 LATAM flights that were no longer part of my itinerary, they would need to cancel and refund those charges. At that point I was able to reserve new seats on the LATAM website, as it was no longer blocked. Now we will see when and if the refund comes through.
The agent said all seats would be canceled in both directions, but as of now, the seats on my return trip are still shown. So, time will tell whether I need to make another call. |

Just curious, where did you get the LATAM conf# for your flights booked through Delta? By calling? I just booked some LATAM flights via Delta as well and was fortunately able to assign seats when booking, but I do like having the other airline PNR when possible. Usually I can find this on pnr.sh but unable to this time. Haven’t called Delta yet, but figured I’d check and see if there was an easier way to locate it. Also have not tried to pull anything up on the LATAM website yet either.

I ran into the same issue with a Latam-operated leg purchased as part of a Delta flight. I was able to get the refund for the original seat selection payment, but now their website won't let me change the seats they auto-assigned me to after they refunded me. The auto-assigned seats won't have enough legroom for my tall husband, and I'm not able to change them. The Latam website keeps erroring out when I go to select seats. Their system seems very buggyy; the flights -- that Delta changed, not me -- are still not showing on the Latam site (Latam shows the old flights). Plus, Latam is showing 2 different return flights on my ticket -- and neither of them is the correct updated date or time!
I was told by a Latam phone rep that they're not allowed to reserve seats over the phone for Delta codeshare flights, so I'm out of luck and will have to ask for whatever seats are available/remaining when I get to the airport. Sigh. |
The Latam website is a nightmare, but it recently got updated - so for the first time, I was able to select seats online for our flights booked as a Delta Codeshare by the travel agency for our guided Peru Tour in September. However, the payment never went through their system and I subsequently received a message stating that the amount was credited back to my credit card. However, the reserved seats are still showing on my Latam flight itinerary, so I hope that they are indeed reserved. I did try a dummy purchase for our flights on the Latam website and our reserved seats do show as occupied - so a good sign! After all the problems with their website and useless calls to customer service, I deserve getting the reserved seats at no costs.
About 50% of the time, the Latam agents did not speak understandable English. But of course, it was more than my Spanish. |

Reserved seats don't mean anything if you don't have an associated ticket number attached to the reservation. That you need to verify.
Your trip to Lima 02 de septiembre de 2025 to 17 de septiembre de 2025 Order number: LA0455734HAVK These Delta tickets were purchased as part of the Guided Tour to Peru which included airfare. The company originally booked the Delta tickets as Basic Economy - which did NOT allow advance seat assignment. After much discussion with the company, they did upgrade our tickets to Economy - which allowed the advance selection of seats both on our Delta and more importantly the Latam flights - a long 8 hr overnight flight. So I am assured of an aisle seat with easy access to the bathrooms. I selected the exit row seats to give us extra leg room- so hope Latam will give us the assigned seats in our reservation as reflected on its website. |
I'm having a similar issue - I booked a series of flights using Qantas points and one of the flights was LIM-EZE with LATAM. That flight has been cancelled and replaced with LIM-AZP. I think I paid for extra legroom seats (I know I did on our LAX-LIM leg), however the seat allocation has changed on the LIM-AZP flight. I have the pnr and putting that into the LATAM website it loads up the flights but I can't get the seat selection page to load for that flight now to have a look and also change the seats. Any advice?

PS: You meant AEP, right? |
Ha, yes, AEP!
what is EMB? I contacted LATAM via Facebook and they responded promptly and sent me an updated itinerary, however I still can’t access that one flight through the LATAM website (but can access the LAX-LIM one) |
