Thanks, andreadbc! The only thing "everyone else" has going is the 40k + 4 qual, but with the loss of two rows of J I don't think it'll be as cheap to fly up front as it has been. :(

phlashba Sep 14, 2011 12:12 pm

Don't even THINK that ---- bad luck!:D

I would rather qualify for Premium Silver with 40K kms + 4 J segments than 60K kms. I was miffed when they took that away this year. Must be because BOG MIA is so cheap.

I think that table is wrong. Or at least they didn't bother to put in all the info.

USA to Colombia and Venezuela is over 1600kms, what about to GYE, UIO, LIM, SCL etc?

Plus that table is missing SYD AKL at 2,164 km

EDIT: Also missing MAD FRA at 1,848 km

EDIT AGAIN: In the other thread I thought BOG MIA was the shortest over 1600kms. Seems there are actually two that are shorter.

JohnnyColombia, you're savvy enough to know better than to expect LAN to give you all of the information in one easily-accessible place! :p

Yeah, LAN and easily-accessible don't go in the same sentence. I'm gonna edit it a bit :).

Thanks for that andreadbc, very useful to have it summarized definitively in one place... at least definitively for now.

As we know LAN could change it tomorrow, without announcement, and we would never know until one of us sees it.

So best to be “everyone else” for Premium Silver because 2 rtn long haul in Business gives you the segments and almost the Kms. Or Peru Columbia because you could figure out 6 segments pretty easily.

Anyone up to a challenge... cheapest 1 trip giving 6 long long segments?

For Comodoro, 100/120 segments is crazy, 40 not impossible and if you do the 40 segments the 70k is almost a given. 150/120k is tough without hefty long hauls. But 50k and 4 long hauls pretty doable for Ecuador, as is 8 long haul for Peru Columbia. I'll hit 70k + 40 LAN segments, but could have done 90k with 6 long hauls just as easily. How are other folks doing it?

Another challenge, what would be the least expensive way to get Comodoro?

PS: Not that Comodoro is worth a lot of effort once you have Premium Silver, but maybe that is another discussion.

Edit: Actually, I take it all back. With the recent sale LIM-TRU at $38 you could get 100/120 segments to achieve Comodoro for less than $2000 jeje

Deleted 'cause it really didn't matter.

JohnnyColombia Sep 14, 2011 2:06 pm

I don't think I can be bothered to cross the pond again this year.

But looking at routes for next year

BOG LIM MAD LIM BOG costs about $1200 and books into the cheapest buckets.

BOG LIM MAD GYE UIO LIM BOG costs about $1400 and books into upgradeable buckets on the way back which also earn 100% kms on the intra S America flights so I think I will do that next year. Earns about 27000 kms if I remember rightly and I can throw all my coupons at it before they expire in March

If I still cannot be bothered to cross the pond before March, I will set about flying to MIA 3 times in J instead of Y

Comodoro is handy if it looks like one's circumstances will change the following year and you want the soft landing

Yes, but even if you had the time: you'd have to be a Peruvian resident to get the fare but be registered as a LAN-resident somewhere else in order to get to Comodoro with segments-only!

And now I've realized that unless I somehow get on the Trujillo bandwagon or drag myself to Cusco for the new year, I'm not getting to Premium because I only have 3 MAD-LIM LAN segments this year and now I'm going back to LIM on AA for Christmas. :( Maybe this just means that it's time that I visit Frankfurt?

MAD LIM is about 9500 each way, so that is about 28500
And so long as you are not flying in O or Q booked in Europe your AA flights, let's guess you are going via MIA and not coming back until 2012. That's 11300kms total 39800.

You only need one trip to FRA and you are over the bar, and it is only 68€, way cheaper than going to CUZ

andreadbc Sep 14, 2011 3:10 pm

I'm crossing the 40000 once I land in LIM because I have a couple of Iberia flights...
I never even thought about the 4 segment thing! I'm not seeing that cheap flight to FRA for weekends, I'll have to think about it...
Maybe I could connect in FRA to somewhere else (somewhere I actually intend to go)...

JohnnyColombia Sep 15, 2011 7:10 pm

Shame that LANpass members can transfer miles but we cannot give you a segment.

Don't know if you qualify for Peru residency, none of my business, but if you find yourself in Tacna you can run across the border and buy Arica to Iquique for a paltry 20 lucas chilenas

andreadbc Sep 16, 2011 1:28 am

LAN still thinks that I'm a Peruvian resident, but I've been over here in Madrid for a year now. I've never found myself in Tacna, but that's 2 segments for one cheap price :)
I'm thinking that it probably must be Frankfurt. I'm sure my parents will declare me certifiable if I go running to Iquique or Trujillo during the holidays. (I'd do it if I could come back the same day, but it has to be overnight :S).

bingocallerb22 Sep 16, 2011 5:49 am

? 20 lucas, not CLT... how much is that $0.04 USA?
