MGM SkyLofts -- anyone stayed yet?

Just doing some research for a potential trip out to Vegas and I was wondering if anyone has stayed at the new MGM SkyLofts yet..... I heard through a snippet of promo material that Maybach transfers from McCarran are included....... I am not quite sure when I can go but should I go it will be my first time.....

Your thoughts and experiences of the SkyLofts are greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Hi,

Going to stay 3 nights in a 1 Bdrm Skyloft next week.
Special occasion. Girlfriends 40th B-Day.
Service from the concierge has been excellent so far.
Booked our show tix. and confirmed transportation.
Looking forward to the Maybach at the airport.

Will post a review of my stay upon return.

Saw the MGM Maybach at the airport on Monday as I was dropping of family.
Hope you like lots of attention-people were staring like crazy.

We have stayed in the Skylofts a few times and been picked up in the Meybach once. The rooms are over the top both in decor and technology. They do apply a mandatory and automatic 18% service charge to everything, including the bottles of liquor in the bar. Sometimes the technology gets out of control. We have never figured out how to shut off the TV in the bathroom mirror. We just turn the volume down and close the door.

Its OK. She looks like 32 to me. Our secret.
As far as the attention. She loves that too.

Looking forward to the trip

Skylofts Review

This was a truly excellent hotel experience.
The word is "Over the Top"
The view and the size of the room are worth the extra
cost. The technology of the room is a bit of a challange.
The staff gives you a brief lesson on its use.
The sound system is great. Both upstairs and down.
Very large oversized bed with at least 10 large pillows.
They monogram one and package it for you when you leave.
Huge walk in closet.
Have to say the shower and tub were a highlight.
The large walkin shower with the "rain" coming down from above.
Yes, the gratuity they add to everything is a bit high.
But the large staff for quick assistance, Mybach airport transfer, limo service around town are included in the overall cost. Staff was always available
on the 29th floor. Lots of staff with earpieces. Felt like we had the
secret service agents always to assist us when we came upstairs.
Quick and wonderful room service. Never waited more than 10-15 Mins.

The bad news. America Worst lost my bag. I took a chance for a change
and checked it in. Wont make that mistake ever again. Damn thieves.

If you can afford this room. Go for it.
Makes the "Venezia concierge floor" room we normally do at the Venetian look very weak indeed.

How much does MGM want for these things?

What about in terms of play to get it comped?

pseudoswede Apr 28, 2005 12:16 pm

I was playing around on their website, and came up with these figures...

1 Bedroom ~ $750-1200/night
2 Bedroom ~ $1700-2400/night
3 Bedroom ~ $7500-9000/night

Who knows what it would take to get these rooms comped. $250-500/hand, perhaps?

bltserv Apr 28, 2005 4:33 pm

Skylofts. How much ?

With these rooms and service.
If you "have" to ask. Its going to hurt.

For the 3 nights. Fri, Sat, Sun.
$ 1180.00 Per Night.
I think Mid week it was $ 800.00 per night.

Include 2-3 great meals via room service.
4 Bottles of Vive Clouquet Champagne.
The girls doing serious damage to the Bar one night.
The Patron, and some good Vodka and Misc Beer and snacks.
Add the 18% gratuity. Minor drinks charged at the pool.
Just over $ 5000.00 Total.

But it was way worth it.
If you want that special occasion or to get that big client juicy.
This is the room for you.

Comp. I did not ask as a $ 100.00 to $ 200.00 a hand player.
Maybe play 2-3 Hrs. And I am a Pia Gow "Scum".
Casino "rates" us Pia Gow players poorly.
I would guess $ 500.00 a hand. 3-4 Hrs Min per day.
Or $ 35K to $ 40K Casino Cage Credit played for a weekend.

I'll update this thread - I stayed in a 1 bedroom over the Labor Day weekend there. Overall, a fabulous experience, and IMO worth the money - even the prices they were charging this weekend.

Some other facets not already mentioned:

1. Was picked up and returned to the airport in the Maybach. UN-real just to have a chance to be chauffeured around in a $450,000 automobile.

2. Some room rates do include complimentary casino-to-casino transportation, but most do not - ours did not. They will happily arrange limousine transfers for you, but standard rates apply (it's contracted through CLS - no Maybach, just a plain ol' limo).

3. If you like dining and entertainment at MGM or its properties, this is the place to stay solely for their ability to take care of you. "KA" was sold out - but not for us - had 14th row - dead center. Got a great table at Craftsteak - reservations whenever we wanted. It's just nice to know that everything is accessible to you on property - anytime.

4. You have access to the VIP lounge, and access to 2 semi-private elevators - which offer less crowds and (as a result) less stops.

5. The room - unbelievable - but you MUST be technically inclined. The ENTIRE room and everything in it is controlled by touch screen computers - and you'll be overwhelmed if you can't imbrace technology. Just a warning - the drapes tend to have a mind of their own, but everything else functioned quite well.

Some interesting tidbits of info:

- Our 1 bedroom suite had 5 high-def flat panel TV's - with Cox digital cable and ALL the sports packages. 600 channels in all. Each TV (with the exception of the two in the bathroom) could be tuned to a unique channel.

- The shower can fit 12 people (don't ask)

- All the non-alcoholic drinks are complimentary. Be sure to check out the desk stationery as you'll have personal business cards, letterhead and fax sheets pre-printed with your name.

- The bedroom is silent - only one wall is shared, and you won't hear any noise from the hallway while in there.

- Privacy is at a premium. Make sure you are comfortable with the people you're staying with, as the shower has a clear glass wall that overlooks the staircase, and the bedroom loft wall that overlooks the living room is clear glass with no drapes. The shower also functions as a steam room which can steam the glass right up for you if need be.

- The infinity tub is probably one of the nicest bathtubs I've ever soaked in. At 6'2" that's saying a lot.

I'll add more to this post as I recall things. Overall HIGHLY recommended for that special occasion, or if you don't mind dropping a grand or two per night on a hotel room.

MGM Skyloft is the best

Tony SVC
Great review.

We had such a great stay in April we are going back in January
and have a loft reserved during the CES and Adult Enertainment shows.
Looking forward to a 3 night stay.

The one thing you mentioned that IMHO puts this "hotel in a hotel"
over the top is the service. Being able to get what you want
quickly and quietly is worth that extra expense. The MGM can be a
bit too crowded and large. But when you have the private elevator
and the private staff always ready to serve you. It really makes the difference.

Note:
When we stayed. The Limo transfers were included. Just ask when you check in. No waiting in that nasty cab line please.

My son is going to turn 21 next year. Going to book the 2 bedroom loft for that event.

12 in the shower ! Yee Ha !
I got 8 in the bed easily.

is there an occupancy limit on these rooms? Splitting it between 2 couples might be doable for mid-rollers ;) Although not sure if the Maybach can take on 4 pax for the airport transfers, do they have the longer one or the shorter one?
