I was planning on having my birthday celebration there in Las Vegas and was planning on staying at a 2 Bedroom Skyloft. Is it difficult to bring guests up to show off the room and hang out? I'm not trying to throw a wild party, but more of a gathering to hang out and have drinks. I'd say about maybe 30 people. Only of 4 of us would be staying in the room as the other guests are either staying at MGM as well or other hotels. I just don't know how strict it is to bring guests up... of course it wouldn't be all 30 at one time... just as they arrive. Would love to know if they constantly watch you come up and "count" the people that are with you.

thanks for any help.

THIRTY guests?? Wow. Are you planning on having people in the bedrooms as well?

From my current reservation confirmation:

"Should guests wish to entertain in-Loft, please advise us prior to arrival to confirm that we can properly accommodate your food and beverage requests and allow us to plan every detail. All food and beverage must be ordered through SKYLOFTS, outside food and beverage is not permitted. In-LOFT displaying or viewing of commercial product(s), "bachelor(ette)" parties, "live" entertainment (example DJ, performers, etc.) and "flow through" events are not permitted. To maintain the interior design of each LOFT, in-LOFT furnishings are to remain "as is". Removal or movement of furniture or the addition of must be requested in advance and approved by SKYLOFTS management. To assist us in maintaining a blissful experience for all SKYLOFTS' guests, access for individuals not registered with SKYLOFTS may be limited at the discretion of management. "

It is my opinion from the research I have done that your shouldn't have a problem with this. 30 guests in a 2BR doesn't sound crowded.

Also, there are 6 chairs at the dining room table in a 1BR and the sleeping limit is 3 persons, so those other 3 are coming from somewhere.

Not sure how they get access to the 29th floor though. When I was there last, the 29th floor was keycard access only.

I would just call ahead to the pre-arrival concierge and ask the details. Please let us know how it works out for you.

Well I just made my reservation today for the 2 Bedroom SkyLoft and questioned them about having my guests come up to hang out. The "operator" said there shouldn't be a problem and that as long as the guests come up with a keyholder it should be fine. If I wanted guests to come up without me or someone staying in my room with a key to get them, then I would have to let the concierge know ahead of time.

Seems like I should be fine. I figure not everyone is going to come at once and I can just have people get the rest of the party downstairs as they come. But if anyone has experience in doing something like this, then I'd love to hear it... both good and bad.

As to having my guests over, I think they would all fit on the bottom floor of the loft. The floorplan shows 4 big areas and I can easily see 7-8 in each area.

loads of room for 30 people in the 2 bed, no problems at all space wise

jgsx Nov 2, 2007 8:28 am

Wow, I guess I don't have a feel for how large the Skylofts are. I'm going to be staying there next time. Please report back afterwards. Have a great time!

bltserv Nov 2, 2007 2:09 pm

It will fit

The 2 bedroom is big enough for 25-30. They will not all fit in one room. But there is a lounge room that holds about 8-10. The pool table area 5-6. The living and dining room 10-12. My only suggestion would be to be as low key as possible when outside the room in the halls on the 29th floor. You can get a little crazy in the room. But try to regulate the traffic the best you can coming and going. They are fine with Birthday parties but frown on Bachelor
type parties. I did a B-day for my son in a 2 bedroom last December. We had like 10 people max. And we could have doubled that with room to spare. Just keep overly wasted and loud people out of the halls and the staff will be very happy to assist you. Make sure nobody wheels an icechest up too. That will piss them off. Happy Birthday and enjoy the Skylofts. PS. Bring your favorite CD`s for music. The sound system ROCKS.

check out www.travel2vegas.com/forums and look for a poster named "Joe Schmo"...he has experience with Skylofts Parties.

MikeE Nov 4, 2007 2:46 am

LOL, I'm the same guy behind the "Joe Schmo" username.

Yes, I threw a party for 45 guests or so in a two-bedder without any problems and plenty of space. Other than the guy trying to make himself puke upstairs, everyone was spread around the floor downstairs for most the time.

I met my guests down at Zuri bar at a set time and made a few trips over the course of the night bringing up to 15 guests at a time. I highly recommend this as the corridors are long and you could wind up spending most your night escorting guests. It wasn't as awkward as I thought taking that many people past the evening staff. No problems at all.

Some tips: I don't know your tastes in music, but stay away from anything bass-heavy (ie: hip hop) unless you want to get kicked out. I had jazz playing the whole night and hid the remotes so guests wouldn't mess with them. Even though we were relatively loud, we had no complaints.

haha ok. I was thinking that you were "Mikey" because of the similarities in names. I'm actually looking into throwing a combo bachelor/bachelorette party for some friends of mine at Skylofts after they take their bar exams so I might be hitting you up with a few questions if they decide to go the Skylofts route instead of a group of 20+ at Tryst. I think once they realize that the Skylofts party can be had for 1/2 the cost and A LOT less stress then they'll warm up to the idea pretty quick.

When do they usually call you asking for your flight information (for the airport transfer)? My stay is a week away, and I haven't heard anything from them.

(Edit: Or are you supposed to call them?)

I received an e-mail within days of making my reservation, even though my stay was nearly a month and a half away. If yours is a week away and you haven't heard anything, I would definitely give them a call to just to make sure everything is in order and to give them your information. Enjoy your stay, I guarantee you'll have a blast!

bltserv Dec 5, 2007 3:38 pm

Normally the Pre arrival concierge will e-mail you within 24 hours or the next business day. Make sure you have your confirmation number and follow up with a phone call if you have not gotten that e-mail. Take full advantage of the following.

1. Get the Maybach if available. So have your flight info. ready.
2. Book any show thru them. They get great seats thru the VIP ticket guys.
3. Any meal at the MGM restaurants. You can get a reservation when others cant.
4. Any special b-day or special occasion needs.
5. What you want the room stocked up for. Beer, wine, water. Just ask.
6. Spa treatments or other appointments in the room or out.
7. When you check in use the butler. Have him draw the bath. Set up the candles. Ask him what he can do for you !

Above all. Enjoy this great room. It is a great hotel room.

If only they could get me a backstage pass to the Spice Girls concert.

Sorry to drag an old thread up, but I couldn't find any other mention of the SkyLofts more recent!

My girlfriend and I (along with some friends) are booked in a 2BR in late April. Cannot wait.

Anyone stayed recently and have any more tips? I can't stop reading reviews and looking at pictures :D

They are very nice; I've stayed a few times in the past.

The butler will help with 'chores' if you ask him/her to - here are things I've found they can do:
  • Unpack / put away your clothes/luggage
  • Prepare a bath
  • Make your morning coffee
  • Pick up clothes and arrange for press or cleaning
  • Order from MGM Grand restaurants / set table / prepare food upon delivery
  • Bring an Xbox or Playstation gaming system and hook up to your tv/multimedia (not sure why you'd want to play one in Vegas but hey, they will do this for you)

You've also got your own SkyLoft concierge - they can help get reservations at a restaurant (even if it seems to be booked sometimes), tickets to shows, and arranging your transportation. They typically reach out to you before your stay, but you can reach out to them beforehand too. I had them prepare the fridge with the drinks my group wanted (sugar free red bull, diet coke, and mineral water).

There is a lounge off the main reception (ground floor) where they have snacks available for SkyLoft guests.

I'm sure I am forgetting something... it's a great time though, you'll love it.
