Is there a good place to watch firework shows? Any tip?

I stayed at the Signature, was on the 35th floor facing the strip. There may be better places to see them from but for me it was a pretty good vantage point. I recall when checking in the Signature said they have a spot on the roof for NYE where people can go up to watch from, I never did so can't comment on that.

You may be able to get a perfectly good view from the strip, it's closed to traffic at some point in the afternoon or early evening, and the fireworks display for 2014/15 was in three places but each one was the same, so looking at one was seeing them all.

Personally I was a bit 'meh' but YMMV.

trying to watch the fireworks from out on the strip is an absolute [edit]. shoulder to shoulder...people smoking weed...drunk .......s.I would not recommend it.

I believe locals watch it from off the strip in empty lots where you can get a good vantage point of the entire strip and all the fireworks shows.

but I agree with the above poster...it's pretty meh in general.

I agree with the above posts. I would not go "on" the Strip to watch the firework show. It is terrible.

OP: Are you looking for a room to book for New Years Eve or a good place to watch the firework show?

Book your hotel early as Las Vegas is very busy over New Years. Fireworks are shot off for about 8 mins. from about 7-8 hotels roofs and the audio is broadcast on several radio stations.

If this is your first visit to LAS for New Years Eve - try a nightclub. If you have visited LAS before on New Years and have seen the firework show on "The Strip". Look into visiting The Fremont Street Experience for about $30. Nothing is released yet on prices or which bands are performing this year.

For some reason it seems every Gang Banger from LA wants to visit Las Vegas Blvd - "The Strip" on New Years Eve. Fights and trash. It is a shame. I have many stories about this - including one clown that decided it would be smart to smash a beer bottle against a police horse. The horse was not happy and neither were the LVMP. That guy went to jail ASAP.

The hotels/casinos spend over $1M to put on this firework production - every year. It is the largest on the West Coast.

I am crossing NYE in Vegas off my bucket list this year. I chose Fremont St just because of the Sh*t Show that the strip is on this day. I don't like the strip on normal days, let alone a busy one like NYE.

We've watched the NYE fireworks from the strip 3 times in the last 10 years and while it is packed and there are idiots it's not THAT bad. Sure, there are drunks - but that's really not very surprising for LV. I would guess it all depends on your frame of reference. At least you're not trapped in a pen as you are in NY's Times Square on NYE. As long as you're staying in one of the strip hotels you have a place to escape to.

We generally stay at Caesars and watch from the sidewalk in front.

for all intents and purposes you are trapped on the strip it is so packed shoulder to shoulder.

There are usually about 300,000+ people in Las Vegas for New Years Eve. Some visit the "Strip" and it is busy (it depends on the weather) - but it is not shoulder to shoulder. Some visit Fremont Street and a lot of people go to nightclubs, special events at the casinos in Ballrooms/Convention areas. Compared to Times Square, the "Strip" is a piece of cake with crowds. I will never go to the "Strip" or Times Square again on NYE. I would go to a Club or special event inside a casino, or just stay home and watch it on TV.

Last year, we went to the club at Paris.. Chateau. They have two outdoor decks and table service was somewhat reasonable. Got there a little later than I'd hoped and had to pull out the Total Rewards status to skip the table service check in line (thank you FC!) Good view of the fireworks from the upper level, though you definitely can't see them all due to the buildings.

Getting a taxi to Paris was awful at Palazzo. Waited 10 min and NONE pulled into the lower level garage. Walked up the ramp and saw tons of taxis in and out of Wynn. Walked over and no waiting there - just pointing out that you may want to ask around for where is a good place to get one since many hotels have to completely reroute their taxi lines due to road closures.

Anyway, if you are in a club or casino and head home well after midnight, we found the strip to be completely cleared out and walkable without delay.

I can't speak to NYE but I was there for July 4.

I had read there were supposed to be fireworks at Mandalay Bay and Stratosphere at 9:00 and Caesar's at 9:15. We went to Caesar's and did not see anything either north or south of us at 9. We were on the pedestrian bridge between Bally's and Bellagio IIRC, or maybe it was Caesar's, anyway were were just south of the center of Caesar's where they set off the fireworks. I've seen better shows at the local minor league baseball park. It went from about 9:20 to 9:30. We then walked back to Aria, where we were parked, and it took us about an hour to get there. The sidewalks were pretty jammed, but the walkway through the construction at Aria was an absolute nightmare.

Next year I'll see what the fireworks are like in Summerlin. The Strip was nothing special.

We have done NYE in Las Vegas a couple of times, the most recent being a couple of years ago. We stayed at NYNY and attended their Bridge Bash out front. We got a good view of the fireworks shot from the MGM I believe.

All in all I don't think NYE in Las Vegas is any worse than other places I have spent it. A few things I have learned:

* It is much easier if you plan to do dinner and activities at the resort you are staying at, or at least fairly close. The less you have to go back and forth from other properties, the easier it is.
* Starting at about 6pm many of the properties start limiting who can come in to the property to registered guests or those who have reservations for dinner, a show, event, etc.
* Many of the properties have all-inclusive NYE parties, dinners, etc.. I found the year that we did one of these so much more fun than the year we did one of the clubs (and considerably less expensive).
* There are stupid, drunk people everywhere on NYE (it isn't called Amateur Night for nothing. Don't let that stop you from giving Vegas a try. It may not be your thing, but only you will know that after you give it a go.
