First New Years in Vegas

I've visited Vegas many times but never on New Years. I am staying at the Palazzo and would like some recommendations on some restaurants to eat on site or nearby. Also what would be my best bet on a decent party to attend?

Thanks in advance.

New Years in Las Vegas is great if you plan in advance. OP, please provide your age range. I see you are staying at the Pallazzo, so I guess you have money for a good party. The question is what kind of party do you want?
Most of the casino's have parties (some only for VIP's). There are many others, which you can purchase.

Let me tell you in advance the "Strip" is crazy. Police on horseback, barriers, hotels/casinos refusing admission (from the Strip) between around 9 pm and 1am, and usually cold weather. Higher drink prices. That is the bad side.

As for the restaurants? Make reservations well in advance. Since you have visited before it is the same, just very busy. They may offer "New Years Eve Special Meals" - many of which are priced higher than normal.

If you provide more on what you are looking for (age range, type of party, etc). Perhaps some on FT can see what is out there this year. Every year it changes.

You picked a great hotel!

Another source is Google as for the clubs, parties, etc. Enjoy your stay - you will have a blast! New Year's Eve in Las Vegas, sure beats a ball being lowered in NYC. I've done both. You picked the right city. ^

I'm 38 and my wife will be 35. I don't have a TON of money to spend but I would like to do something fun for the new year. I already have dinner reservations at Morels Steakhouse on site for now. Want to have some sort of party plans nailed down very soon before everything is either sold out or booked solid. Is the strip itself going to have any parties going on (outside events)?

My first time too. I booked dinner at Cut (a phone call found they had much more availability than Open Table suggested). They are offering the standard menu, which I prefer.

Looking for a good party but it sounds like they are announced at any time and can fill up fast. Been tracking this site for details: Las Vegas New Year's Events

I am thinking we may book the event at Paris' Catheau Nightclub as it has indoor/outdoor so we can see the fireworks yet avoid being stuck out on the strip. The question is how to best get from Palazzo/Venetian to Paris.

You may want to check out: First choice: Drai's Night Club/Beach Club at the Cromwell (The former Bill's/Barbary Coast). This would be a great place to watch the fireworks. I think the party runs from 10pm - 4am. Men $100 Women $50. Very nice club and Beach Club is on the roof center strip. This place is very new. (not open bar).

2nd choice: Foundation Room on the top floor of Mandalay Bay. Another great place to watch the fireworks. (not open bar). Now that I think about it. This may only be open to members.

3rd choice: Voodoo Lounge at the Rio (top floor) or Ghost Bar at the Palms. Again, this is if want to watch the fireworks.

There are tons of parties on and off the strip. Many concerts, including a unique one: Tony Bennett with Lady Gaga. There is also Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake and many more. If you do not care about the fireworks, look for your favorite DJ or Band. Some charge more but may have an open bar.

One of the best dining spots currently is GIADA, but for New Years Eve I am sure they are sold out. Morels Steakhouse I have not been to.

Have a great visit! ^

I did the Bridge Bash (NYNY) 2 years ago. Not overly crowded, open bar (name-brand alcohol, too), took place on the bridge and in their Irish pub. I think it was $150 per person. Had a DJ outside and a Celtic band inside.

I felt a little sorry for the go-go dancers, as the temp was in the low 30s.

I have heard great things about this party but read somewhere that they will not have it again this year (last year it was cancelled due to construction). Let me know if you hear otherwise

I'll be out there, have forked out for a balcony room at MGM Signature. I'm tempted to just hang out there and watch the fireworks.

I've done NYE in NY - freezing bloody cold, and in Paris - waiting patiently for fireworks off the Eiffel Tower that never happened so I expect this to be better on both counts!
