What is KE class D?

I made an award booking via NWA for KE business/1st class. All it shows in the reservation on NW (of course can't see it on KE) is "Class of Service: D"

I just want to know is this KE First class or KE Prestige class. Could someone please clarify this for me and tell me which class of service is D on KE?

You will want to know if your plane/route has the regular Prestige seats, Prestige Plus seats, or the new Prestige sleeper seats...

Got it, thanks! (As I thought, 20K more miles than NWA WorldBusiness Class and still not even First Class...)

I did check what type of seats it has. As per:
http://www.koreanair.com/local/na/gp...if_ni_main.jsp
and also seatmap for the plane (I can find on expedia.com if trying to make a booking for same flights), it seems that for ICN-HNL / HNL-ICN it is Prestige Plus. Not even flat sleeper, oh well...

Thanks for the response and help here! Just wanted to know what to expect (and whether the booking is worth it to keep or should I change to fly via NW through NRT instead).

I am sorry, whilst confirming that D on KE is Prestige Business class, to tell you that according to SkyTeam Websites, this class is not eligible for earning any SkyTeam miles at all. Repeat, according to, for example, the KLM Website, you will not earn any AF-KL FlyingBlue points (under SkyTeam rules). None.

I am booking a Europe-Indonesia fare right now on KE, and I have had to reassure myself that their cheaper published fare is in O as in Ottawa and not in D as in Disrespect-for-passengers.

D is often used for low-revenue Business fare classes, such as Round The World. Elsewhere on Flyertalk (I cannot recall where), I have noticed people complaining that on a D class RTW SkyTeam ticket, the KE segments have to be flown in Economy. Maybe that has changed, but, believe me, it turned me so much off SkyTeam that I have given up tracking them.

Hope you find more positive news.

Paul

As it is an award booking class, I am not sure that any compagny in the world gives miles for award flights... If one,or more, please tell us. Thanks

I take your point, IF D is an award class with KE. Hadn't thought of that. However, D is often used by airlines as a discounted business class fare, not an award - though maybe not with KE. This is often the case with RTW fares. That was the sense of my comment and of my warning to the original enquirer.

I just booked into D as well, YYZ-ICN-DPS, and i've got a few KE question for you guy.

How do i know for sure if my flight is on a newly configured aircraft? Is the seat map a good indication, the first class seat map on my YYZ-ICN-YYZ plane only has two rows of four seats.

Also, my ICN-DPS flight is on a 330, but i was given seats 2GH, dose that mean its in first?

and Lastly, would i be able to use the first class lounge, with a D class reservation?

D is Prestige (Business) class, NOT 1st.

Aircraft config info you can find on:

You'll be seated in a first class seat on the ICN-DPS sector, but will have Prestige Class service (including ground services, such as the lounge).

KE sell DPS flights as two class, but operate them on a three-class aircraft. I think that there is a buy-up option for the Prestige seats (with economy service), and these are also available to at least some of their frequent fliers.

I know Prestige is a biz seat, but dose KE have one of those policies where elites with a biz ticket can use the first class lounge or something like that, I've got a long layover in ICN.

My flight isn't until next Feb, is there a schedule for their interior conversions?

I don't get it, so the distribution of those "first class" seats are completely on a first come first serve basses?

On a Prestige (business) ticket, you're seated in the first class seat, but get business meals/ground services.

The business seats on the plane have only economy services, and seem to be allocated to elite frequent fliers (I'm not sure exactly what the requirements are, though).

This allows KE to sell additional economy seats on a leisure-focused route. On a recent DPS-ICN flight, only nine of the twelve seats in the first class cabin were filled (so nine Prestige class passengers). At least one of these was a staff member.
