Does KE have a period where miles toward Elite status?

Most mileage plans have a "minimum EQMs during a calendar year period" rule for whether or not you qualify for some level of Elite status.

Does Korean Air do something similar, or is it just a matter of meeting their mileage minimums and criteria?

I have the choice of converting points to either Korean Air miles or United.

Any thoughts on which program allows better coach or business class booking from DFW or ORD to cities in Asia?

Thanks.

You can fly KE from DFW but you pay fuel surcharge of about $400 on C roundtrip.
Or you can fly OZ from ORD with DFW-ORD on UA miles with no fuel surcharge.
You can also fly KE from ORD but KE will not give you a ticket from DFW-ORD on award redemption.

Ben Schlappig (aka Lucky) has been blogging up a storm lately on redeeming for premium-class travel on KE. See the posts in his category http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemil...ry/korean-air/

FYI: I get "The specified request cannot be executed from current Application Pool"

By the way, can I book a one way award on Air France using Korean Skypass miles, do you know? How tight is availability in general?

Thank you!

Proof of family status

Hi All,

Would KE accept a civil partnership certificate copy as evidence of family membership for the pooling of miles?

In answer to this question, yes they do...

Just a note about reaching Morning Calm-

For US residents, US Bank offers Skypass credit cards. According to their FAQ, up to 20k miles earned from these can count towards Morning Calm membership but they fall under the "partner" category, so the rest of the flying has to be on KE.

I wonder if those US Bank Visa miles count toward Morning Clam Premium and Million Miler Club?

Would someone mind explaining something? Can Korean Air miles be used on codeshare flights? (i.e. Hawaiian) As it's SkyTeam, any SkyTeam member flight should be ok (i.e. Delta)?

I'm on the SkyPass website, and can't seem to book any North America to North America flight at all, everything looks like its operated by Korean Air. Any way to get out of the program and take miles elsewhere?

Partner awards can be booked only via phone. Here's a decent guide to the process.
