Reserved seating

I'm flying LHR-AMS-JFK on a WBC award flight next month, called KLM a couple of weeks ago to select my seats. All the seats I wanted were available apparently, and have now been added to my booking.

How reliable is this service? When I go to OLCI the day before the flight, will I be offered exactly those seats? It's not a huge deal, but as we're flying out on a 777 I don't want to be saddled in the row of 3....

Do KLM also reserve the best seats for Plats at OLCI, in case I have to select seats again from scratch?

I'm flying Y, but systematically uses this service for my long haul flights ; on my experience it's quite reliable, I was always offered the reserved seat at check in, whatever it was on Internet or counter.

Recently, I was offered 9C in 747, or 10H in MD11, surely amongst the best in KL Y...

Yes, I can say this service to have been reliable for me in the past.

The only seat-horror I've had was when trying to change an award booking. If there is anything that messes up your seat assignments, than that should do it! (even when reselecting the seats after the change has been made...)

I ended up in the middle C seat on an M11, by myself!

Have a nice flight!

but do NOT try to use internet check-in! especially if you have special seats in economy, have an award ticket, or an upgrade, the internet check-in system may not see the reserved seat and once it checks you in nobody can fix it - except perhaps at a transfer desk in AMS, by when it may be too late.

Sorry to say but above reply is entirely inaccurate!
Possibly based on a one-time experience.

On-line check-in respects all seating requests that have been made.
The only exception is when (due to configuration changes or other operational reasons), passengers have been reseated during flight preparation by the airport staff.
But, in such a case, your seat will also have been changed if you check-in at the counters.
It has nothing to do, whatsoever, with on-line/internet check-in.

Same experience here ; it's a while that I reserve seats by phone, I've been using Internet check-in as soon as it was available in my routes, and my reservations were always respected...
