Is this connection too tight?

Hello,

I am considering booking the following flight on march 18th, but was wondering if the connection in AMS was too tight:

EDI-CDG via AMS departing at 3.15 arriving at 8.10 PM.

There is a one hour connection in AMS.

additionally, I've never to AMS so I might need an extra time to find my way around.

Thanks in advance

1 hour is OK, I've made plenty non-Schengen-to-Schengen connections in half an hour, but you do have to walk rather quickly and hope the passport control doesn't have too long a queue. Plus, the flights to CDG are hourly (alternately AF and KL) so if you miss one, you shouldn't have a problem.

It's a very well laid out airport, so you won't have the same chance of getting lost as you do at LHR.

I think the afternoon flight is a 737-300, so you'll probably end up on an airbridge on D-pier. Follow the signs up to the main section, then head left through passport control towards C-pier. Walk through the new Lounge 1 area and down C-pier (it could be B if it's operated by AF, I can't remember if they moved them or not), and you're there.

thanks for the info,

what about luggage? I have one suitcase that needs to be checked in.

BTW, does the new european regulation applies for delayed luggaged if you're flying the return segment?

Luggage is fine - they can check it through from EDI, and you don't need to clear customs for checked luggage until you reach your final destination (even if the last leg is intra-Schengen).

As for the new EU regulation - I thought it only applied to flight delays, cancellations and denied boarding, not luggage delays?

- except that the shorter the connection the more likely it is that our luggage will not be on the flight that you are on! Not a big deal. It usually catches up with you within 24 hours.

True, Aviatrix :)

Am I the only (now ex-)PE who has never had any lost or delayed luggage?

here, it is mentionned that you can claim in case of delayed luggage.

Stut is right. The new EU reg. is not concerned with luggage delays. There is, however, another (older) piece of legislation which has been in force since 2002 and which deals with this. This is what the poster is referring to in relation to luggage.

ok, I guess I misunderstood then

Me too. Never been lost or delayed. :D

Pb is solved as my TA told me that it would cost me an additional 315€ + tax over a full-fare economy ticket to reroute via AMS.

The price is just outrageous.

Anyway, thank you guys for your input
