FD Goodwill points

I just had over 11000 miles show up in my account as Goodwill miles. These miles acted as 1 flight credit, and counted to Award AND Level miles.

Earlier this year I had an issue with a paid ticket award upgrade showing up in my account with 0 miles, but this was eventually fixed. Made a no. of calls to achieve this so am totally shocked by this goodwill gesture.

Thanks KLM

I'd keep VERY quiet about this if it were me ...

This is actually the 2nd Goodwill mileage credit that I've had - KLMuk gave me a few years ago! But I knew at that time that something was coming, because I was specifically asked for my account no. then by a lovely lady who no longer is associated with KLM.

FD just "loaned" me about 5000 Goodwill miles for an upgrade, saying they would deduct them after the flights post. Interesting concept. I wonder if they will count towards status as well?

I doubt it - Lufthansa have long had an overdraft facility for there elites.. I wonder if KLM is starting the same idea ?

This seems to be a new 'feature' introduced for 2004, I never had this happen before this year. I got the feeling the FD computer now picks up some/most/all 'D' class bookings as non-mile earning free tickets :td:

Am now awaiting a resolution for a similar issue. Goodwill points not expected, but welcome :)

United for a long time have allowed top elites to "go negative". i.e. if you need a 150,000 mile award and have only 100,000 in your account they'll "loan" the 50,000 etc in most cases, if they can see you have future revenue travel already booked.
